Bahrain to Resume Imports of Livestock from Sudan

Bahrain will resume imports of livestock from Sudan, Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf has announced.

The minister indicated that Bahrain had suspended imports of livestock and meat from the Sudan in September 2019, following the emergence of cases of Rift Valley Fever (RVF) there.

He added that Bahrain will also begin importing red meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The move is with efforts to diversify the sources of livestock and meat, he said, noting that Bahrain can now import them from Sudan, Georgia, Romania, Somalia, Djibouti, South Africa and many other countries, in addition to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
