A new cleanliness law is set to be finalized by September 2019 according to the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry.
An awareness campaign to educate citizens and residents of the new law will be launched as part of implementing the new law in Bahrain.
In May of this year, Law 10/2019 was issued regarding cleanliness imposing a fine of up to BD300 for violating norms related to public cleanliness. Littering, urinating or spitting are some of the violations that will be heavily penalized under the new law. The law imposes higher fines of up to BD1, 000 for transporting garbage or dangerous substances without a license.
