Bahrain: Top police officer killed in horrific three-vehicle crash

A top Capital Governorate official was killed yesterday in a horrific three-vehicle crash on Khalifa bin Salman Street towards Hamad Town. The tragic accident, the interior ministry said, took the life of Major Saad Nasser Al-Hazani, the Acting Head of the Community Service Police Division at the Capital Governorate.

Al-Hazani was on his way to Hamad Town when the collision involving two cars and a truck occurred. Police said the mishap occurred when the car Al-Hazani was travelling in rammed into a truck that stopped in the middle lane of Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Street in the direction of Hamad Town.

The impact caused the vehicle to veer out and collide with another oncoming car causing serious injuries. The National Ambulance team, who reached the scene immediately, rushed him to a hospital. Photos from the scene showed the remnants of the mangled vehicles that got battered beyond recognition.

All the vehicles involved in the accident were swiftly removed from the scene to ensure traffic flow. There, however, no clarification is available on the conditions of the others involved in the accident or how many are involved.

Confirming the accident in a Twitter post, Interior Ministry said the collision occurred on “Khalifa bin Salman highway towards Hamad Town”. Authorities took relevant procedures, the Tweet said. An investigation is ongoing.
