The national team wrestler, Adam Batirov achieved the silver medal at Men’s 70kg freestyle competition on Tuesday at the World Wrestling Championship, held in Budapest, Hungary. His achievement made Bahrain rank first among Arab nations and fifteenth in the world in Freestyle Wrestling.
The 33-year-old wrestler made his victory at the championship after a 6-7 defeat to former world champion Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov of Russia in the final.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general, Abdulrahman Askar congratulated Adam Batirov on his victory.
Askar also congratulated the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation president Khalid Al Khayyat and all board members on this result, which he attributed to the support from the sports leadership in Bahrain.
