President Donald Trump moved to hospital after COVID-19 diagnosis
President Donald Trump was taken to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday “as a precautionary measure” following his coronavirus diagnosis.
Trump was seen wearing a mask as he departed the White House and walked toward his helicopter, Marine One. He waved to the press but did not stop for questions.
“Out of an abundance of caution, and at the recommendation of his physician and medical experts, the President will be working from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days,” the White House press secretary said.
The president’s transfer to the medical facility comes less than a day after he announced his diagnosis.
White House doctor Sean P. Conley said he is being treated with an experimental drug cocktail and is “fatigued but in good spirits.” Trump is at high risk because of his age and weight. He has remained in apparent good health during his time in office but is not known to exercise regularly or to follow a healthy diet.
A number of other prominent Republicans also tested positive on Friday, including former White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway and Republican senators Mike Lee and Thom Tillis.
