Bahrain: ‘Wanted man’ deported back from Manila

The Philippines and Bahrain have carried out the deportation of a wanted man back to the Kingdom.

The move was a testament to the two governments’ intensified commitment to fight criminality and to bring law offenders to justice.

A team of police escorts from Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior travelled to the Philippines to receive the deportee from officers of the Philippine Bureau of Immigration’s Interpol Unit in the presence of a team from the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila who were on hand to provide assistance during the transfer of the detainee.

Records show that the Bahraini national who assaulted a female victim at his apartment fled to the Philippines in 2016.

Upon the request of Bahrain authorities, officials of the Philippine Bureau of Immigration arrested the individual at his residence in Dasmariñas, Cavite on 23 February 2021.

A summary deportation order was thereafter issued by the BI’s Board of Commissioners to expel him from the country.
