Bahrain warns residents about expired food products

Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has warned residents about macadamia nuts being sold in markets which have had their expiration dates altered, local media reported.

The ministry said that its inspection department received a complaint about the case and an investigation was immediately carried out.

It was found that a certain brand of macadamia nuts had their validity dates changed, and upon opening the products, mold was found on them.

Altering the expiration dates on food packaging is a violation of consumer protection laws, according to the ministry, and legal measures will be taken against offenders.

The ministry advised consumers to thoroughly check all products before purchasing them, and if there any violations, to call the inspection department on 80008001
