Bahrain: Get A Glimpse Of History At Al Amari’s Exhibition

Historian and poet Mubarak bin Amr Al Amari is holding an exhibition of books and ancient works at Al Amamra Council in Muharraq.

The exhibition, which started a week ago and will continue until next Saturday, showcases precious books from various historians and collectors of rare documents and manuscripts.

It coincides with the opening of the Dar Al Amamra Library for Old Books and Magazines, located next to the Council.

The exhibition features hundreds of rare books and articles, covering a wide range of historical and cultural topics.

Visitors include His Majesty the King’s Advisor for Media Affairs, H.E. Nabil bin Yacoub Al Hamer, as well as political and official figures, academics, intellectuals, and cultural enthusiasts.

According to Al Amari, the exhibition aims to present a diverse and comprehensive collection of rare books and materials, some dating back over 150 years.

Diverse and comprehensive

“The books in the exhibition are not limited to a specific aspect, but rather they are diverse and comprehensive, and this is what adds an advantage to this cultural content,” said Al Amari.

“Many of these books are difficult to obtain elsewhere in the world. In fact, some manuscripts are rare, and the edition in the exhibition is the first edition.”

Among them are geography books that go back to the year 1830 in Malta, and magazines published before World War I, in addition to rare poetry collections, Egyptian and Iraqi newspapers, and the Voice of Palestine newspaper that dates back to 1969, as well as a book about the Egyptian Armed Forces, which is a rare masterpiece that dates back to 1962.

“We invite those interested in culture, as well as art lovers, and literary connoisseurs to visit us at the exhibition,” he said.
