Bahrain’s under-18 mixed martial arts (MMA) national team concluded its participation in the Asian U-18 MMA Championship with an impressive haul of 13 medals, including two golds, four silvers, and seven bronzes.

The championship, held on December 14-15 at Khalifa Sports City Arena, was part of the BRAVE International Combat Week Bahrain 2024, held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYs), Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

The event, hosted by BRAVE Combat Federation in cooperation with the Bahrain MMA Federation (BMMAF) and the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), was managed by Team Bahrain and took place from December 13-15.

On the first day of the championship, the team secured one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. On the second and final day, they added one gold, three silvers, and four bronzes, bringing their overall tally to 13 medals.

Key results from the final day included Mohammed Mohammed clinching gold in the 34kg (Category C) division.

Ali Baqlaweh won silver in the same weight class, while Mohammed Baqlaweh claimed silver in the 48kg (Category C) division. Sayed Ali Abdullah earned silver in the 40kg (Category B) division.

Bronze medals were secured by Abdullah Hussain in the 37kg (Category C) division, Hamad Al Mahri in the 40kg (Category C) division, Shawqi Al Sada in the 48kg (Category C) division, and Ahmed Hussain in the 48kg (Category B) division.

On this occasion, Mohammed Ali Qambar, Member of the IMMAF Board and President of the BMMAF, congratulated His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS); HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa; and His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, for the national team’s achievement.
