Bahraini teen transmits COVID-19 to 3 families

A Bahraini teenager, ill with COVID-19, has transmitted the highly infectious disease to seven people from three different families, Akhbar Al Khaleej newspaper reported Friday.

The 15-year-old boy has been confirmed to have contracted the disease after he displayed its symptoms and tested positive.

A tracking mechanism used by the Health Ministry revealed that he had transmitted the virus to five others who came in direct contact with him, including his mother, daughter and fraternal aunts. He also caused infection to hit two others through one of his aunts, according to the report. It was not clear how the boy had caught the virus.

Bahraini authorities have repeatedly called for observing anti-virus precautions including social distancing rules and mandatory wearing of protective face masks in public places.
