Batelco, the leading telecom service operator in the Kingdom has joined with Ericsson one of the major global technology to deploy the commercial 5G network in the region enhancing the digital lives of residents in and around the kingdom.
The nationwide 5G deployment is proposed to be implemented in phases in key locations, said Batelco.
The deal is set to implement Ericsson commercial 5G equipment – including 5G New Radio (NR), mobile transport, and core – being deployed in Batelco’s network.
Ericsson’s high-speed and low-latency 5G technology is intended to meet increased data traffic demands of Batelco and aims to deliver high-quality mobile and wireless internet services.
The new technology is set to implement high-speed data service in streaming, downloading, gaming, infotainment, and interactivity across the region.
5G enables Batelco to open-up new opportunities globally in the telecommunication sectors with future generation mobile technologies.
Recently Batelco achieved Bahrain’s first 3GPP-compliant 5G data call on a commercial mobile network using a 5G pocket router by using Ericsson Radio System solutions and 5G Cloud Packet Core.
The telecom service provider commits to deliver exceptional customer experience through provisioning of seamless, advanced mobile services over 5G and is pleased to strengthen the strategic partnership with Ericsson to commercially deploy 5G, said the management.
Ericsson promises to accelerate the digitization of industries in Bahrain, exposing new opportunities to service providers to launch the advanced technologies also improving the end-user experience with higher data speeds and lower latency.
Ericsson recently enhanced its 5G Platform with portfolio additions across core, radio access, and transport areas, as well as service orchestration making the platform more dynamic and flexible to offer smooth delivery of services.
