Bentley Bahrain has introduced the all-new fourth-generation Continental GT Speed, marking the latest evolution in the model’s 21-year legacy. The car was unveiled at an exclusive event at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain, showcasing its redesigned exterior, hybrid powertrain, and advanced technology.

Bentley Continental GT Speed: Performance and Powertrain

The new Continental GT Speed is powered by an Ultra Performance Hybrid system, featuring a 4.0-litre V8 engine paired with a 190 PS electric motor. This setup delivers a combined 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in approximately 3.1 seconds. The vehicle offers up to 81 km of electric-only range under EU testing conditions and a total range of 859 km.

The hybrid system includes a 600 PS V8 engine with 800 Nm of torque, featuring twin single-scroll turbochargers and a high-pressure 350 bar fuel injection system. The 190 PS electric motor, housed within the transmission, provides torque assistance at low speeds and smooths out gear changes. A 25.9 kWh battery, positioned behind the rear axle, supports multiple driving modes, including pure electric, hybrid boost, regenerative braking, and a charge mode that simultaneously powers the wheels and recharges the battery.

Bentley’s engineers have integrated a 400-volt electrical system, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions to 29 g/km. The battery can be fully charged in under three hours using an 11 kW charger.

Chassis and Driving Dynamics

The new Continental GT Speed is built on the Bentley Performance Active Chassis, incorporating Active All-Wheel Drive, an electronic limited-slip differential, all-wheel steering, torque vectoring, and Bentley Dynamic Ride—a 48V active anti-roll control system. A dual-valve damper system, combined with dual-chamber air springs, enhances ride comfort and handling. The new system improves road surface isolation and body control, adapting to different driving conditions.

A balanced 50:50 weight distribution, achieved by battery placement, contributes to improved stability and cornering agility. The updated ESC system offers standard engagement, a Dynamic Mode for controlled rear axle slip, and an option to disable traction control for a more engaging driving experience.

Braking options include ventilated iron brakes with 10-piston front and four-piston rear callipers, or Carbon-Silicon-Carbide brakes with larger discs for enhanced stopping power.

The Continental GTC Speed, launched alongside the coupe, features a seven-bow fabric roof that can be deployed in 19 seconds at speeds up to 48 kph. The convertible achieves 0-100 kph in approximately 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 285 kph.

Both coupe and convertible models will be handcrafted at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England, offering customers an experience like no other. With production and deliveries now taking place all over the world, this all-new Continental GT Speed is set to redefine grand touring for customers in Bahrain

Exterior and Interior Design

The fourth-generation Continental GT Speed introduces Bentley’s most significant redesign in 20 years. The front features single headlamps, a design choice not seen in a mainstream Bentley since the 1950s. The new horizontal ‘eyebrow’ lighting and matrix LED technology enhance visibility, while a wider rear light graphic and streamlined boot lid contribute to a cleaner, modern appearance.

The car maintains a muscular yet refined stance, inspired by the focused expression of a tiger. New colour options include Gravity Grey with metallic accents and Tourmaline Green.

Inside, Bentley’s signature craftsmanship is evident in new precision quilting patterns, Dark Chrome finishes, and a redesigned cabin layout. The Continental GT Speed also features three-dimensional leather textures, enhanced air ionisation, and a customisable ambient lighting system with 30 colour options.

The Bentley Rotating Display, which includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, provides infotainment and navigation functions. The model offers a choice of three premium audio systems, including an optional Naim sound system. Laminated acoustic glass further reduces cabin noise.

Seating is designed with Wellness Technology, offering heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Bentley has also refined its interior air quality system, integrating particulate sensors and filtration technology.

Technology and Connectivity

The fourth-generation Continental GT Speed features an updated electrical architecture, enhancing infotainment, driver assistance, and connected services. Key features include:

  • Intelligent Park Assist
  • Air quality monitoring
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Remote vehicle controls
  • My Bentley app studio provides access to vehicle data, navigation, parking, and charging services

In 2024, Bentley’s engineers tested the GT Speed’s performance by running the car through Norway’s Ryfylke Tunnel, the world’s longest subsea road tunnel. The vehicle reached 335 kph in 33 seconds, demonstrating its speed and stability.
