Swiss luxury watchmaker, Breitling, has recently opened its new retail concept in City Centre Bahrain – the first new concept Boutique in the country.
During the launch, Gulf Insider spoke to Aed Adwan, Managing Director, Breitling Middle East, who shared that the new Boutique is the first in the country to feature the brand’s new unique design concept – a contemporary urban interpretation of an industrial loft. It is inspired by a mid-twentieth-century industrial building as a nod to a time when the brand’s timepieces and intelligent measuring tools earned Breitling a formidable reputation.
The official opening and ribbon cutting was made by Aed Adwan, Managing Director, Breitling Middle East and representatives from Breitling’s local retail partner, Yaquby Distribution.
What makes Breitling Bahrain special?
Yaquby and Breitling have been successful partners for over 30 years, the new Boutique marks a milestone for the partnership. It is the first new concept Boutique within Bahrain.
How is Breitling differentiating itself from other luxury watch brands?
We have enlarged our offers to our customers, including the ladies’ collection as well as limited edition watches specifically designed for this region. The new Boutique is home to the entire Breitling collection, including the brand-new Super AVI collection, celebrating aviation history with designs inspired by the original 1953 “Co-Pilot” Ref. 765 AVI aviator’s watch and four legendary planes: the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang, the Vought F4U Corsair, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and the de Havilland Mosquito.
Tell us about your expansion plans.
We want to develop the Saudi market further. At the moment, we have 3 boutiques there. One was recently opened in Riyadh, which is the biggest boutique in the Middle East. By the end of this year or early next year, we hope to have a total of 7 boutiques in Saudi Arabia.
What are the biggest challenges facing the Swiss watch industry, Breitling in particular, now and over the next five years?
One of the biggest challenges over the past two years was the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, Breitling overcame this and we got through the pandemic with optimal results compared to other brands. Just like the pandemic which was unforeseen – not knowing what will come next will be the main challenge over the coming years.
