The Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) has announced its plans to develop a public beach and a beach club at the Bahrain Bay project. A collaboration with the private sector, the initiative will be undertaken through a tender process managed by the official Tender Board. This project is a key component of the BTEA’s tourism strategy for 2022-2026, which aims to enhance tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors to the Kingdom.
It spans a total area of 173,000 square meters and comprises five plots. One plot will be developed by the BTEA as a public beach, while three plots will be leased to private sector developers. The Tender Board has set a BD5,000 initial guarantee with a validity period of 90 days. The deadline for submitting bids is September 29th. The development of a public beach and beach club is expected to attract more tourists and contribute to the growth of the tourism sector. BTEA’s overarching goal is to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the national GDP to 11.4% by 2026. It also aims to attract 14.1 million tourists to Bahrain by the same year.
