Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam Khalaf, said that the Busaiteen Waterfront Development Project will be the first of its kind in Bahrain to use renewable energy, noting that 25 per cent of the project has been completed.
Designed in coordination with the Muharraq Municipal Council, the project will come up over a 43,000-sqm area, featuring an open seafront, a public square (plaza), green spaces, family restrooms, facilities, restaurants, services and parking lots, said a statement from Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
This makes it an integrated recreational facility that would contribute to boosting internal tourism, and provide a new outlet for Bahraini families, it stated.
A strategic project for the development of marine coasts in the Muharraq governorate, the 2-km-long Busaiteen Waterfront is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2019, remarked Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf.
The implementation of the Busaiteen Waterfront Development project is in line with the directives of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, he stated, adding that the ministry had been keen to complete all the executive procedures related to the project, in cooperation and coordination with government departments and the Muharraq Municipal Council.
