Saudi Arabia: Jeddah Municipality Shuts Down 3 Sites Recycling Old Furniture For Resale As New

A joint field campaign conducted by the Jeddah Municipality detected three illegal compounds in southern Jeddah used to remanufacture household furnishings that would later be distributed to commercial stores. The campaign was carried out in cooperation with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Ministry of Commerce, field enforcement authorities, and Civil Defense, as part of integrated government efforts to strengthen compliance and curb illegal activities. Director General of the General Administration for Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena, Yasser bin Siraj Bakhsh, said field teams found workers in the sites exploiting waste materials, including used foam and cotton, processing them through primitive methods in an unhealthy environment. The materials were cut, compressed, and packaged in preparation for recycling into household furnishings, which were later marketed and distributed to commercial stores. Bakhsh explained that the campaign resulted in the arrest of two workers, who were handed over to the relevant authorities for violating residency and labor regulations. He added that inventory operations uncovered large quantities of furnishings, with 5,000 usable pieces handed over in accordance with approved procedures. Authorities also began confiscating equipment and machinery, while Jeddah Co. initiated the dismantling and removal of heavy machinery from the sites. The Director […]

Minors Jailed Over Vandalism

Prosecutors said Monday that a juvenile court sentenced three minors to three years in detention each for their involvement in violence and vandalism incidents, citing a lack of parental supervision as a contributing factor. The High Juvenile Reform Court also ordered authorities to submit a follow-up report within six months to assess the youths’ behaviour and progress in rehabilitation, the Family and Child Prosecution said. The cases relate to incidents in March in which the juveniles were caught taking part in acts of disorder and property damage. They were arrested at the scene by police in the capital and later referred to prosecutors. Authorities said the minors were questioned with full legal safeguards in place and held in custody during the investigation, which relied on testimonial and forensic evidence before the case was sent to court. Social assessments presented to the court pointed to inadequate parental oversight and guidance in the defendants’ upbringing, which judges took into account in issuing the sentences. Prosecutors said the rulings underscore efforts to uphold public safety while pursuing rehabilitation to prevent repeat offences, stressing the importance of family responsibility in supervising minors. Horrifying “Rape Festival” Sparks Worldwide Outrage

Videos circulating on social media out of Nigeria have ignited shock and horror after appearing to show groups of men chasing, stripping and sexually assaulting women in broad daylight during a traditional “fertility” festival in the country’s southern Delta State, according to news.com.au. The incidents unfolded on March 19 during the Alue-Do festival in Ozoro, a triennial rite in the Uruamudhu community of the Ozoro Kingdom. Intended to invoke blessings for married women struggling with conception, the event involves processions to a community shrine. Local customs reportedly advise single women to remain indoors. However, footage depicted young women fleeing through crowded streets, pursued by mobs who tore at their clothing, groped them and subjected them to public humiliation while bystanders filmed and, in some cases, appeared to cheer. The graphic clips, which spread rapidly on platforms including X, Instagram and Facebook, have fueled national outrage, trending hashtags such as #endsexualviolence. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Every Woman is Worthy® (@everywomanisworthy) Delta State police have responded with arrests. Authorities confirmed that at least 15 people, including a community leader and several young men identified in the videos, are in custody, the BBC reports. EU Crime Report: Spanish Rape Reports Surge 322% Over Last Decade, EU Sees 150% Increase

Spain has seen one of the most significant shifts in reporting, according to Spain’s La Razon outlet. In 2024, the country registered “5,222 violations” compared to only “1,239 in 2014.” This represents a “322 percent increase,” a figure that sits “well above the 150 percent average in the EU.” What Eurostat does not provide is data on who is committing these crimes. However, other sources have explored this issue. As Remix News reported last year, a CEU-CEFAS Demographic Observatory report titled “Demography of Crime in Spain” showed that foreigners, who make up 31 percent of Spain’s prison population and commit per capita 500 percent more rapes and 414 percent more murders than Spanish citizens. The highest rates are seen among Arabs and Latinos, with many of them hailing from countries in South America known for their extremely high crime rates. While the murder numbers are stable in Spain at 300 per year, there has been explosive growth in attempted murders. Over the course of just four years, between 2019 and 2023, attempted murder cases nearly doubled, going from 836 to 1,507. In just five years, penetrative rape cases also soared 143 percent, going from 2,143 in 2019 to 5,206 in 2024. As Remix News has […]

Iraqi Father Arrested In Sweden For Beating, Imprisoning Daughter In Italy Over Forced Marriage Plot

An Iraqi father accused of beating, imprisoning, and threatening to kill his daughter after she refused an arranged marriage has been arrested in Sweden on a European warrant issued by Italian authorities. The 52-year-old man was tracked down by Taranto State Police after the authorities in southern Italy opened an investigation into domestic abuse and forced marriage following a complaint from the young woman last November. As reported by Il Giornale, prosecutors say the victim told officers her father had demanded she marry a Kurdish man selected by him and had threatened her with death if she resisted or tried to flee abroad. The woman had traveled from Iraq to join her family in Taranto, but investigators say she soon found herself trapped in what police described as a family campaign to force her into submission. According to the allegations, her relatives sided with her father because they believed she wanted to live in a way that was too “Western” and incompatible with their cultural expectations. When she refused to obey, her father allegedly held her captive inside an apartment in the southern Italian city and subjected her to violence that left her with injuries requiring 15 days to recover. Bahrain: Missing Girl Found Safe

The court sentenced a defendant to seven years in prison after finding him guilty of luring a child through an online game and sexually exploiting her, according to the Family and Child Prosecution. The High Criminal Court also ordered the confiscation of the defendant’s mobile phone as part of the ruling. According to case details, the Public Prosecution began investigations after East Riffa Police received a missing person report filed by the father of a 14-yearold girl. Following search operations, the girl was located at the defendant’s residence, where she reported that she had been harmed. The Family and Child Prosecution, working with the Victim and Witness Protection Office, ensured the child’s identity and personal information remained confidential to protect her privacy. During interrogation, the defendant admitted to the charges, and the case was referred to court, which issued the final verdict. Officials from the Family and Child Prosecution warned of the growing risks posed by unsupervised access to online platforms and digital games, which can be exploited to target minors. They urged parents to closely monitor their children’s online activity and report any suspicious behavior immediately
