Tourism Minister: Sama Bay Enhances Maritime Tourism In Muharraq

Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, emphasised that the “Sama Bay” project represents a continuation of initiatives to develop maritime tourism and a qualitative addition to the tourism sector in Muharraq Governorate. She noted that waterfronts and marine activities are among the key pillars of the 2022-2026 tourism strategy, highlighting that the project offers an integrated tourism experience that includes marine, sports, and entertainment activities, making it a distinctive destination for all age groups. The minister highlighted that the new waterfront enhances Muharraq Governorate’s tourism appeal and highlights the beauty of the Kingdom and its rich maritime heritage. ‘From Sharjah To Rome Via The Spice Route’ Exhibition Opened In Italy

A momentous archaeological exhibition, titled ‘From Sharjah to Rome via the Spice Route’ — the first Arab exhibition was opened at the historical Curia Julia building in the Colosseum Archaeological Park. The exhibition is being organised under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Ambassador of the Faya Palaeolandscape World Heritage Nomination File, and Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), inaugurated the historic exhibition. The exhibition showcases 110 rare artefacts unearthed from Sharjah’s ancient trade centres, including Mleiha and Dibba Al-Hisn. Al Bashyer Annual Camel Race To Begin On 10 February In Adam

The eighth edition of the annual Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival will kick off on Monday (10 February 2025) at Al Bashayer Camel Racing Field in the Wilayat of Adam in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah. The 6-day race will see the participation of competitors from the Sultanate of Oman and other GCC states. Record 9 Billion Passenger-Trips Forecast For China’s Spring Festival

A record 9 billion inter-regional trips are expected during this year’s China Spring Festival travel surge, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. The 40 day period between January 14 and February 22 is expected to see record highs in terms of passenger volumes for both rail trips (exceeding 510 million passengers) and civil aviation trips (exceeding 90 million passengers). Despite rail and air travel for the Chinese New Year gaining popularity, Statista’s Anna Fleck reports that travel by road is still the most popular mode of transport for the holiday. Eighty percent, or 7.2 billion out of the projected 9 billion trips taken on the occasion, will be in cars and buses, according to Chinese authorities. The New Year falls on January 29 this year. The Spring Festival or Lunar New Year comes amidst a tough economic climate with a property market crisis, low consumption and high youth unemployment.
