Three members of the UAE Armed Forces and one Bahraini officer were killed in a terrorist attack in Somalia, UAE’s defence ministry confirmed in a statement on Sunday. The Ministry of Defence said that two others sustained injuries in the attack. The statement added that the attack occurred while the soldiers were “performing their work duties in training and qualifying the Somali Armed Forces, which falls within the bilateral agreement between the UAE and the Republic of Somalia in the Framework of military cooperation between the two countries.” The Ministry of Defence extended its condolences to the soldiers’ families and wished for a speedy recovery for all those injured in the attack. Furthermore, the ministry emphasised that the UAE remains committed to collaborating closely with the Somali government to investigate this terrorist act.

Bahrain: Web of Deceit Unmasked

The High Criminal Court has delivered a verdict convicting an Asian fraudulent network for orchestrating deceptive operations utilizing a counterfeit website. The announcement was made by the Deputy Chief of the Electronic Crimes Prosecution. The principal culprit was sentenced to five years in prison, fined BD5,000, and ordered permanent deportation from the Kingdom of Bahrain upon completion of the sentence. Additionally, the court sentenced the remaining defendants to three years imprisonment, fined them BD2,000 each, and ordered their expulsion from the country after completing their jail terms. The incident traces back to a report filed by an electronic payment company concerning suspicious transactions totaling BD4,312 conducted through its website. Bahrain Grand Prix wins F1 award for Innovation

The 2023 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix has won The Event Innovation Award at the F1 Promoter Awards in London. The ceremony recognizes key achievements of F1 venues across the world, with Bahrain picking up the award for a number of industry-leading innovations over the last twelve months. These included key sustainability initiatives as well as technology developments in areas including race control and traffic management. The awards themselves are arranged and judged by Formula 1, the commercial rights holder of the sport. Bahraini School Teacher Confesses in Court to Sexually Assaulting Students

A teacher appeared in the Bahrain High Criminal Court, admitting to sexually abusing his students. The teacher expressed regret for his behaviour and requested an apology from all. Private University in Bahrain Ordered to Pay Lawyer BD15,000 in Outstanding Fees

The Bahrain High Civil Court has obligated a private university to pay BD15,000 to a lawyer as the remaining amount of her estimated fees. The court found that the university had contracted with the lawyer to represent them in various cases, including the collection of late rents amounting to over half a million dinars. The lawyer successfully collected arrears exceeding one million dinars. However, a disagreement arose between the two parties regarding the estimation of the fees, which the court ultimately determined to be BD40,000. The lawyer initiated legal proceedings, stating that representatives of the university had requested her services to legally collect rent owed by a company, which amounted to more than half a million dinars.
