Parking Restrictions Announced for Sultan Qaboos Street

Parking restrictions will be in place on Sultan Qaboos Street from Monday, 28 October for a period of three days, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced. In a statement, the ROP said, “Vehicles are prohibited from parking on both sides of Sultan Qaboos Street from Burj Al Sahwa Roundabout to the Wilayat of Muscat, starting tomorrow, Monday, for a period of three days.” The restrictions will end on Wednesday, 30 October, according to the statement.

Four Arrested for Possession of Drugs in Oman

Four smugglers have been arrested for possessing more than 18 kilograms of crystal meth, hashish and 3,000 psychotropic tablets in South Al Batinah Governorate. A statement issued online by ROP said: “The Department for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, led by the South Al Batinah Police, arrested four Asians in possession of more than 18 kilograms of crystal meth, hashish and 3,000 psychotropic tablets. Legal procedures are being completed against them.”

Oman Grants Citizenship to 85 Expatriates

Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik has issued a royal decree granting Omani citizenship to more than 80 expatriates. Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik issued Royal Decree No. 50/2024 granting Omani citizenship to 85 people. New citizens of Oman are subject to certain restrictions, including limitations on spending extended periods outside the country during the initial 10 years after acquiring citizenship unless they obtain special permission from the Ministry of Interior. Applicants seeking Omani citizenship can apply at the Sultanate’s Ministry of Interior. Expatriates seeking Omani citizenship are required to submit an application, which carries a fee of 600 Omani riyals (Dh5,726).

Six Arrested In Oman For Bank Fraud, Coast Guard Seizes Boat With Drugs

The General Department of Criminal Investigations and Research in Oman has arrested six individuals of Asian nationality for impersonating bank employees. The suspects allegedly lured customers into sharing their personal and banking details by claiming they needed to update their data, subsequently defrauding them and making unauthorized purchases from their bank accounts. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has urged the public to remain vigilant and not respond to unsolicited calls or disclose any personal or banking information to unknown sources. In a separate case, the Coast Guard Police Command apprehended a boat carrying three Arab nationals attempting to smuggle over 75 kilograms of drugs, including crystal meth, heroin, and hashish. The ROP confirmed that legal proceedings are underway.

This Road In Muscat Partially Closed For Traffic

Muscat Municipality has announced that Al-Seeb Street before Al-Zulfi Roundabout towards Muscat exit will be partially closed from the evening of Thursday, October 24, 2024, until the evening of Saturday, October 26, 2024. This closure is necessary for road maintenance work.  MM said in an announcement: “In continuation of road maintenance work at Muscat Governorate‬⁩ and in cooperation with the traffic department at Royal Oman Police ⁦‪‬⁩ Muscat Municipality ⁧‬⁩ will partially close Al-Seeb Street before Al-Zulfi Roundabout towards those leaving Muscat; For the purpose of maintaining the damaged part of the street.” The municipality urges everyone to exercise caution and follow the traffic instructions provided on the site.

Oman Air adds six weekly flights to Moscow

Oman’s national carrier, Oman Air enhances its Moscow service for the winter season, introducing three direct weekly flights starting October 29, 2024. This will increase to five flights on December 1 and expand to six from December 25 through March 29, 2025, as reported by the Oman News Agency. Flights from Muscat will depart at 15:25, arriving in Moscow at 21:00. Return flights will leave Moscow at 22:20, landing back in Muscat at 05:40. Oman: Strict Penalties For Tardiness, Workplace Violations

Oman has introduced new regulations that impose strict penalties on private sector employees for tardiness, early departures, and other workplace violations, as part of a drive to enhance workplace discipline and safety. Ministerial Resolution No. 618/2024, issued by the Ministry of Labour, requires companies with 25 or more employees to establish clear penalty guidelines and ensure workers are aware of these rules. Under the new regulations, employees who are more than 60 minutes late to work without a valid excuse can face wage deductions of up to two days. The new rules also implement a wide range of penalties for different types of infractions, especially tardiness, unauthorised absences, and general workplace conduct. For employees arriving late, penalties escalate depending on the duration and frequency of delays. Workers arriving up to 15 minutes late will receive a written warning for the first offense, with subsequent offenses resulting in wage deductions ranging from 5 to 20 percent. Two Dead in Al Dakhiliyah Truck Accident

Two citizens were killed in a truck accident that led to the leakage of a hazardous substance (Triethylene Glycol (TEG)) in the Wilayat of Adam, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), said in a statement :”Rescue and ambulance teams and teams specialised in dealing with hazardous materials incidents at the Authority responded to a truck accident and a leak of (Triethylene Glycol (TEG)) in the Wilayat of Adam in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The teams were able to contain the leak of the substance. The accident resulted in the death of two citizens.”

Three people were arrested for stealing electrical cables and wires from several houses under construction in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. A statement issued online by ROP said :”The Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Police Command arrested three people for stealing electrical cables and wires from several houses under construction.
