Fly Jinnah, a low-cost airline based in Pakistan, announced the launch of its first international flight from Islamabad to Sharjah with a special ceremony at both airports. The inaugural flight carried Fly Jinnah’s senior leadership, travel agents, media representatives, and social media influencers. At Sharjah International Airport, the aircraft received a traditional water cannon salute and a welcome ceremony, with Mr. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, as well as senior management from Sharjah International Airport and Air Arabia in attendance. Currently, Fly Jinnah operates domestic flights to Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta, in addition to the newly launched international route to Sharjah. Fly Jinnah, known for its convenient and affordable service, has a modern fleet of five Airbus A320 aircraft. Snowfall blanketed the Trojena Mountains on Friday for the second time during the month of February. Trojena, the Mountains of NEOM, is located 50 km from the Gulf of Aqaba in the northwestern Saudi region of Tabuk and it is part of the NEOM giga city project. Many local people, especially lovers of nature and adventure, ventured out to enjoy the beauty of the snow-capped Trojena Mountains when it transformed into a perfect winter destination. The climate condition, which was unusually warm this year, led to a delay in snowfall on Trojena for more than two months compared to last year. The snowfall happens in the Mountains of Trojen when Saudi Arabia is experiencing a warm winter this year and no zero temperatures were recorded anywhere in the Kingdom. Authorities in the UAE helped arrest a fugitive wanted in Kuwait and seized more than 300,000 Kuwaiti dinars. Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior said in a post on social media that the accused was involved in forgery and tampering with documents and invoices. The expat was apprehended by UAE officials before he could flee the country and was handed over to Kuwaiti authorities. The accused is under investigation and he and those involved have been referred to the competent authorities.

Kuwait has announced a reduction in working hours for some employees, during the Holy month of Ramadan. The four-hour work days during Ramadan are only applicable for women. They will be granted two grace periods of 15 minutes each, allowing them to arrive 15 minutes late and leave 15 minutes early. For men, working hours will be four hours and 15 minutes, with one grace period of 15 minutes in the morning. The move follows the State’s Financial and Administrative Affairs Sector in the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) review of employees’ performance evaluations for 2023, sources reported citing Al-Anba daily. Each government agency has the freedom to choose suitable work hours and shifts, considering the approved working hours by the Civil Service Commission (CSC). The agreement also includes a 15-minute grace period in the morning for all employees, enabling those who arrive on time to leave 15 minutes early. During Ramadan, employees are allowed a maximum of two hours and a minimum of one hour of partial absence. Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) announced setting up a mega investment fund called “Big Time,” which aims to support and enhance the quality of Arabic content in production, distribution, and filmmaking. Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GEA, made the announcement on the establishment of the fund during a visit to Egypt. The fund, which will have GEA as its main contributor, will have the Ministry of Culture as a co-sponsor, along with a group of companies specialising in the field. Silah Studio Company, Al-Wasail Company SMC, Al-Alamiah Company, Rotana Audio and Visual Company, Bench Company, Mark, and Pisquare Art Production Company are among the companies to be associated with the fund. In its first phase, the fund will invest mostly in Saudi, Gulf, and Arab films.

The High Criminal Appeals Court affirmed a three-year prison sentence for an individual who participated in a fraudulent scheme. The scheme involved deceiving an individual into providing personal information and resulted in the misappropriation of BD1,000. The victim received a text message requesting them to update their banking information through an electronic link. Upon opening the link, the victim was prompted to enter his bank card details. Subsequently, he received another message instructing him to click on a link and enter specific numbers to safeguard his data. Unknown to the victim, this allowed the fraudsters to gain access to his secret codes. Shortly after, the victim received a notification of a BD1,000 withdrawal from his bank account, only to realise that he had fallen victim to a fraudulent operation. The incident was promptly reported to the Electronic Crimes Unit for further investigation. Valuable information During the investigation, valuable information was obtained from an electronic financial transactions company, which helped track the misappropriated amount.
