Russia & Ukraine Holding ‘Limited Talks’ In Qatar

Bloomberg has reported that Russia and Ukraine have been conducting “limited talks” in Qatar, citing unnamed Russian sources. The talks are said to focus on preventing threats to each country’s nuclear facilities as the war continues. The same report cited Ukrainian sources who say the contacts thus far have only focused on prisoner exchanges, which has resulted in several major swaps throughout the conflict. The latest exchange was Wednesday, involving 25 POWs returned on each side. But it’s clear that any direct negotiations under the incoming Trump administration is likely to grow out of these existing ‘limited’ contacts and exchanges. World’s Safest Airlines Revealed: UAE And Qatar Carriers In Top 10

Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad feature in list of world’s safest airlines The world’s safest airlines have been revealed, with carriers from the UAE and Qatar featuring in the top 10. Aviation industry website AirlineRatings.com announced its Top 25 Safest Full-Service Airlines and Top 25 Safest Low-Cost Airlines for 2025 from the 385 airlines it monitors. Air New Zealand pipped Qantas to the top spot, while Middle East carriers Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad all featured in the top 10. World’s 25 safest airlines for 2025 CEO Sharon Petersen said: “It was extremely close again between Air New Zealand and Qantas for first place with only 1.5 points separating the two airlines. While both airlines uphold the highest safety standards and pilot training, Air New Zealand continue to have a younger fleet than Qantas which separates the two.” Regarding a joint third-place for Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways and Emirates, she said: “The three-way tie for third place was because we simply could not separate these airlines. Saudi Al-Rajhi Takes Dakar Lead as Al-Attiyah Wins Stage 9

Qatari Nasser al-Attiyah hit the gas on Tuesday to win stage 9 of the Dakar Rally as Saudi Yazeed al-Rajhi took the lead in the drivers’ standings. South African Henk Lategan was dethroned having dominated the standings since stage 2 and is now 7min 09sec behind the Saudi driver with three days to go. “It was a messy, messy, messy day for us but it’s not the end of the world, we’re still in it,” said Lategan. Five-time champion al-Attiyah covered the 357km special between Riyadh and Haradh in 2hr 52min 59sec, to keep in touch with a sixth Dakar title. “It was a good stage. I can be happy with the result. There are three days left, we really have to focus, everything is open,” said Dacia driver al-Attiyah, who is fourth over 25 minutes behind al-Rajhi. Qatar Airways Expands Private Jet Fleet To 24 With New Plane Acquisition

Qatar Executive, the luxury private jet charter division of Qatar Airways Group, has delivery of two additional Gulfstream G700 aircraft. The new planes take the total fleet size to 24. The two additional aircraft will increase the total number of Gulfstream G700 in QE’s fleet to six, with an additional four G700s scheduled for delivery throughout 2025 and early 2026. Trump Envoy To Join Gaza Ceasefire Talks In Qatar

President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, said Tuesday that he was traveling to Qatar to take part in Gaza hostage and ceasefire negotiations with Biden administration officials. Chances of a deal seem slim as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made clear he has no intention of ending the genocidal war, and Hamas is saying any deal must lead to a permanent ceasefire, but Witkoff insisted progress was being made. “We’re making a lot of progress, and I don’t want to say too much because I think they’re doing a really good job back in Doha,” Witkoff, a real estate investor, said at a press conference with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Witkoff said he was “really hopeful that by the inaugural, we’ll have some good things to announce on behalf of the president.” When asked what has been impeding a deal, Witkoff declined to answer. “I believe we’ve been on the verge of [a deal]. Dembélé Scores Last-Gasp Winner As PSG Wins Champions Trophy

Ousmane Dembélé scored a stoppage-time winner as Paris Saint-Germain beat Monaco 1-0 to win the Champions Trophy on Sunday. The France winger was unmarked at the back post to meet a low cross from the left by Fabian Ruiz in the second minute of added time. PSG won the trophy, also known as the super cup, for the third straight time and a record-extending 13th overall. PSG won the league and cup double last season, with Monaco finishing second in the league. The match was played at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar, with PSG owned by Qatar-based QSI since 2011. Désiré Doué hit the crossbar early on for PSG and Monaco goalkeeper Philipp Köhn made several saves. Qatar Airways has resumed flights to Abha International Airport (AHB), taking its destinations in Saudi Arabia to 11. The airline will operate two weekly flights to Abha, offering connectivity to more than 170 global destinations.
