UAE Cyber Threats: Over 223,000 Assets Still Potentially Exposed, Report Finds

There is a critical need for advanced cybersecurity measures in the UAE to meet the challenges of increasing complexity and sophistication of cyberattacks, a report said. Over 223,800 assets hosted within the UAE are potentially exposed to cyberattacks, with half of the critical vulnerabilities remaining unaddressed for over five years. “This exposure, coupled with the surge in advanced cyberattacks, underscores the absolute necessity of robust cyber defenses in a region that is at the forefront of AI-driven technological innovation and geopolitical significance, the latest report by the UAE Cyber Security Council and CPX, a leading provider of end-to-end cyber and physical security solutions and services, said. UAE faces sophisticated cyberattacks The report, titled ‘State of the UAE Cybersecurity Report 2025’, offered an in-depth analysis of the country’s rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape. The report also examined key trends shaping the current cybersecurity challenges, including misconfiguration, which represents 32 per cent of the cyber incidents, followed by improper usage and unlawful activity at 19 per cent. UAE Calls for Moon-sighting to Mark Start of Ramadan 2025

The UAE has called on people in the country to look out for and report sightings of the Ramadan crescent moon on Friday. The UAE Council for Fatwa has called on all members of the community, both citizens and residents, to watch for the crescent moon of Ramadan 1446 AH on the evening of Friday, 29 Sha’ban 1446 AH, corresponding to February 28, 2025. The Ramadan Crescent Moon Sighting Committee, formed under the Council for Fatwa and responsible for moon sighting in the United Arab Emirates, invites anyone who spots the crescent moon to report their sighting by calling 027774647 or via this link. The UAE will switch to remote learning for public schools on Fridays during Ramadan. To promote family unity and the spiritual significance of Ramadan, the Ministry of Education has dedicated Fridays during the Holy Month to activities that reinforce familial bonds, instil core Ramadan values, and advance students’ key skills. Within this context and in anticipation of the Holy Month, the Ministry of Education has introduced the “Ramadan with Family” initiative, under which the students in public schools will shift to a remote learning system on Fridays during Ramadan, allowing them to engage in activities from home alongside their parents in a supportive family and Ramadan atmosphere. An analysis of over 149 million property views and 12 million search queries has shown that International City in Dubai is the UAE’s most searched-for community. According to data revealed by UAE real estate portal Skyloov, International City was followed by Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi and Muwaileh in Sharjah. Dubai dominates property inquiries Skyloov used the data generated from its 3.1 million monthly users to provide insights into the most sought-after communities for property seekers in 2025. It highlights the regions where buyers, renters, and investors are focusing their attention. Dubai continues to dominate the market, with 42 per cent of total inquiries. The UAE’s “Savings Scheme” is an alternative end of service benefit service that can help boost a worker’s post-retirement savings plans. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has conducted six workshops in the past two weeks to enhance awareness of the benefits offered by the “Savings Scheme”. Ramadan 2025: UAE Leaders Release Over 4,340 Prisoners Ahead Of Holy Month

Leaders of the UAE have ordered the release of more than 4,340 prisoners ahead of Ramadan 2025. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the release of 1,295 inmates from correctional institutions in the UAE. He also pledged to settle any financial obligations incurred as part of the inmates’ sentences in a gesture marking the Holy Month of Ramadan. Dubai Fines 159 Companies $13,600 Over Telemarketing Rule Violations

Dubai authorities are clamping down on unwanted business phone calls with fines and warnings for rulebreakers. Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade (DCCPFT), part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), has taken decisive steps to regulate telemarketing practices with the aim of protecting consumer rights and promoting positive business standards. These efforts have been implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), in accordance with Cabinet Decision No. 56 of 2024 concerning the regulation of telemarketing practices, and Cabinet Decision No. 57 of 2024 regarding violations and administrative penalties for actions contravening the provisions of Decision No. 56. Dubai telemarketing calls These regulations aim to reduce unwanted telemarketing calls, ensuring consumer comfort and protecting their privacy. They also work to enhance consumer trust in businesses by ensuring that companies adhere to appropriate channels and timings for marketing their products, thereby building a positive business climate.
