UAE Announces Fundraising Laws Ahead of Ramadan; $54,000 Fine for Violators

The UAE has clarified fundraising laws ahead of Ramadan and says violators will face fines of up to $54,000 for breaking rules. The Ministry of Community Development revealed that the entities permitted to collect donations within the UAE are charitable associations authorised by relevant authorities in compliance with Federal Law No. 3 of 2021 regarding fundraising regulations. The law aims to maintain and protect donors’ funds from exploitation and ensure that they reach the right beneficiaries. UAE Ramadan charity fundraising rules Coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, the UAE will witness significant donation amounts in all forms, therefore, the Ministry calls all philanthropists and donors to ensure that the entities which receive these donations whether “cash, in-kind or digital” are authorised to collect the donations. GM Defense’s New Infantry Squad Vehicle Passes Grueling Sand Dune Trials In UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces completed evaluation trials of the Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) by General Motors Defense, built on the chassis of a Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 midsize truck. GM Defense’s ISV successfully completed all trials that the UAE Armed Forces could throw at the offroad utility vehicle for elite military special operations units in the Middle Eastern country. The trial included traveling nearly 1,250 miles across highways, dunes, soft sand tracks, and rocky walls while carrying maximum payload capacities. In addition to mobility trials, the ISV completed the maintenance trial, which included two days of field repair testing and maintenance.  “This was GM Defense’s first time sending a vehicle to UAE Summer Trials, and our successful completion is a testament to the strength of our ISV and to the expertise and dedication of our team,” said Steve duMont, GM Defense president. Dubai Cuts Work, Residency Visa Process From 30 Days To 5 With New Platform

Processing time to complete all necessary documents to acquire work permits and residency visas has been reduced from almost one month to five days, thanks to the new Work Bundle platform launched on Wednesday. The integrated procedure will also reduce the needed documents from 16 to five, and the number of times to go to service centres from seven to only two, officials said at a press conference. Work Bundle integrates all procedures for government entities — such as the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre), Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), and the Department of Economy and Tourism, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). Dubai: Sheikh Mohammed Announces New 20% Annual Tax On Foreign Banks

A new law has been issued regarding the tax on foreign banks operating in Dubai. The provisions of the law apply to all foreign banks operating in the emirate, including special development zones and free zones. Those in the Dubai Financial Centre are excluded. The law stipulates that an annual tax of 20 per cent shall be imposed on foreign banks on taxable income, and the corporate tax rate shall be deducted from this percentage, if the foreign bank pays the tax under the Corporate Tax Law. The law regulates the rules for calculating taxable income, the controls for submitting the tax return and paying the tax, the procedures for auditing the tax return and voluntary declaration, and the duties and procedures related to the tax audit process. The law also specifies the rights of the person subject to tax audit, which is the foreign bank and its branches licensed by the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates to operate in Dubai. Dubai: Some Emirates Flights Cancelled, Delayed Due To Strike In Germany

Dubai-bound Emirates flights from Hamburg and Frankfurt, which were supposed to depart today, have been rescheduled due to strikes in Germany. One flight (EK060) was cancelled. In an advisory, the Dubai-based carrier listed the flights that were affected as aviation security staff joined the picket line. Two unions called for two-day walkouts over wages and work conditions. Affected passengers are advised to contact the airline or their travel agents for rebooking options.
