Watch: Chile Debuts All-Female SWAT Team at UAE Competition With Humiliating Results

It’s a veritable train wreck. Keeping in line with the Chilean leadership’s new focus on “gender equality” and President Gabriel Boric’s goal of creating a “feminist government,” the nation has fielded an eight member all women’s team at the annual UAE SWAT Challenge in Dubai. The international competition is meant to give elite police forces from around the world a chance to test their mettle and receive recognition. Unfortunately for Chile, most countries organized their teams around merit instead of equity and woke ideology; this has put Chile at a distinct disadvantage. The South American nation set out to send a message about gender inclusivity while other more selfish countries set out to win. The women’s group, hand picked from a variety of police departments, debuted in high spirits but were quickly thwarted by the competition’s obstacle course. Emirates Announces Adelaide Route, Plans 77 UAE-Australia Flights Per Week By End Of Year

Emirates has taken the final step in the restoration of its Australia capacity announcing its return to Adelaide. A daily service will relaunch between the South Australia capital and the airline’s Dubai hub on October 28, 2024. The reinstated service will facilitate the growing travel demand to and from South Australia and allow passengers to travel conveniently between more than 140 destinations across Emirates’ global network. Emirates announces flights to Adelaide, Australia Emirates first launched its Adelaide services in 2012 and carried more than 165,000 passengers between Dubai and Adelaide in 2019. By December 1, when Emirates also reinstates its second daily service to Perth, the airline will offer 77 weekly flights from Australia with the ability to transport 68,000 passengers per week to and from Australia, returning to its pre-pandemic capacity. The airline’s return is a major milestone for South Australia’s pandemic recovery. The tourism expenditure of daily direct non-stop Emirates’ flights is estimated by South Australian Tourism Commission to generate more than $62m per year and create in excess of 315 full-time equivalent tourism-related jobs for South Australians. UAE: More Than 1,000 Private Firms Caught Faking Emiratisation From Mid-2022

During inspections conducted by human resource ministry, 1,077 private companies were caught faking Emiratisation in the UAE since the second half of 2022. The authority penalised these firms which hired 1,818 citizens who were proven to have violated Emiratisation laws by attempting to overcome targets by hiring Emiratis illegally. Emiratisation is considered fake when it is confirmed that a UAE national works in a nominal job without real tasks to meet the establishment’s required Emiratisation targets and/or when an Emirati is rehired in the same establishment to circumvent data and benefits from the relevant benefits of Emiratisation. Companies indulging in bogus Emiratisation are penalised for their violations. Besides imposing financial penalties, violating companies are downgraded to the lowest category within the classification system of private sector establishments registered with the ministry. This step comes with several consequences for private companies, including higher fees for Mohre services. Actions taken against violating companies go up to a hefty fine of Dh20,000 to Dh100,000 fine for each case. Referral to the Public Prosecution is based on the severance of the violation. UAE: Up to AED200,000 Fine for Cheating in Exams

A federal law to combat cheating in examinations stipulates fines of up to AED 200,000. The penalty is imposed on anyone other than a student who commits any of three acts before, during, or after the exams. These are: Print, publish, promote, transmit, or leak information related to questions, answers, or examination content by any means; modify answers or the grades awarded; and impersonate a student to take the exam in his/her place. The law was among 73 federal legislations across various sectors passed last year. “Anyone other than a student who participates or contributes as an original perpetrator or partner in causing … the commission of any of the acts stipulated (above) … with his knowledge shall be punished with the same penalty,” the law on combating cheating and disruption of the examination system states. If convicted, the perpetrator may be ordered to do community service for up to six months — either as an added penalty or in place of the fine. If a student is caught cheating, disciplinary procedures will be initiated. These will be in line with conduct rules and regulations in force at the Ministry of Education, educational authorities in each Emirate, and educational institutions. […]

UAE Clamps Down on Illegal Recruitment Activity, Issues $272,000 Fine Warning

The UAE is clamping down on illegal recruitment activity and warns of fines of up to $272,000 against firms operating without a licence. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has detected 55 entities engaging in recruitment and mediation activities without obtaining the required permits from the Ministry in 2023, including five social media accounts that were identified in collaboration with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). The UAE Ministry imposed administrative penalties on the violators, including fines, restrictions in the Ministry’s records, and referral to the Public Prosecution, while the violating social media accounts were blocked. UAE recruitment warning The Federal Decree-Law Regarding the Regulation of Employment Relationships prohibits recruitment or temporary employment of domestic workers without a permit from the Ministry. The law states that violators could face no less than a year’s imprisonment and/or fines ranging from AED200,000 ($43,400) to AED1m ($272,300). UAE Introduces Flexible Work Guidelines

The UAE has launched guidelines to govern flexible working patterns in the country. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) launched the General Framework for Employment Patterns and Flexible Work Types in Federal Government, which was approved by a Cabinet decision. This framework includes details of employment patterns and work types approved at the federal government level, based on the Human Resources Law in the Federal Government and its executive regulations. Flexible work in the UAE Approved flexible work conditions include: FAHR stressed that the framework serves the UAE’s strategy towards the governance of future work requirements and ensures business continuity and performance of tasks throughout working days and official working hours in federal entities. Dubai-India Flight: Security Breach Averted After Passengers Mistakenly Taken To Domestic Terminal

A massive security breach was narrowly avoided in India as passengers from a Dubai flight were dropped off at the domestic terminal. On Monday, a group of flyers on an Air Vistara flight to Mumbai were “erroneously” taken to the domestic terminal, bypassing customs and immigration clearance, according to the airline. “Few of our customers, arriving from Dubai to Mumbai on Vistara flight UK 202 on February 4, were erroneously taken to domestic arrivals instead of international arrivals,” a spokesperson said in a statement. A Dubai resident who was on the plane said the incident took place because of human error. “When we arrived in Mumbai, the stairs were offered instead of the aerobridge,” said Vinay RS. “Three shuttle buses were deployed and two out of those took us to the domestic arrival gate.” He said that once the passengers walked into the terminal, they noticed that they were at the baggage claim. “We usually get the luggage only after immigration,” he said. “So the passengers understood that there was some mistake and immediately alerted the authorities.” Once they realised that there had been an error, officials, including those of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), tried to rectify it. Dubai International Boat Show Celebrates 30 Years as the Gulf’s Premier Maritime Event

Dubai’s flagship boat show, the Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), is gearing up for its highly anticipated 30th edition next month at Dubai Harbour. Organisers have revealed ambitious plans for the largest showcase yet when the event runs from February 28 to March 3. UAE: 50 Companies, 5 Social Media Accounts Penalised for Illegal Recruitment

A UAE authority has taken action against 55 entities, including 5 social media accounts for engaging in illegal recruitment and mediation activities without obtaining the required permits from the ministry in 2023. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation imposed penalties on violators, including fines, restrictions in the ministry’s records, and referral to the Public Prosecution. The social media accounts were blocked. The country’s law prohibits recruitment or temporary employment of domestic workers without a permit from the ministry. Violators can face up to no less than a year’s jail time and fines ranging from Dh200,000 to Dh1 million. British Grandad Free to Leave Dubai After Court Fine

An Aberdeenshire grandfather blocked from leaving the United Arab Emirates following a row over a Hogmanay party is now free to depart the country after being fined £650. Ian Mackellar, 74 was charged with trespassing and verbal assault after he complained to neighbours in Dubai about music noise. The retired economics lecturer had been visiting his daughter and granddaughter over the New Year period. Mr MacKellar’s wife Carol said she was “absolutely delighted” that her husband would be able to return home. The government of Dubai’s media office said the court had provided “swift and efficient delivery of justice”. After Mr MacKellar, of Newtonhill, was arrested his wife had to fly back to Scotland without him, and appealed for him to be able to return home. Mrs MacKellar stated: ““I am absolutely delighted that this is going to be behind us now, and that Ian can come home. “It’s been very traumatic, not being with him and wondering if I would see him again.” She had previously told BBC Scotland News that his family were “so worried about him, mentally and physically”.
