The 3 Most Overlooked Ways to Feel Happier

A few simple shifts can change everything. Key points As a psychologist, I see countless clients who long to feel happier but unknowingly overlook simple, powerful ways to boost their well-being. They come to sessions feeling stuck, convinced that happiness will arrive once they get a better job, lose weight, or find the right relationship. Yet, in pursuing a happier life, people often miss the small but meaningful shifts that could make a difference. Happiness isn’t just about achieving more; it’s about recognizing and cultivating what’s already within reach. Here are three overlooked ways to feel happier, starting today. 1. Stop Unfavourably Comparing Yourself to Others Sasha scrolled through social media, watching her college friend post about a luxurious vacation in Greece. Meanwhile, she was sitting in her small apartment, feeling stuck in a job she didn’t love. A wave of inadequacy hit her: Why wasn’t her life as exciting? Comparison is one of the biggest killers of happiness. When you measure your life against someone else’s highlight reel, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. The truth is that people rarely post about their struggles, insecurities, or bad days. Tip: Next time you catch yourself comparing, reframe your thoughts. Instead of saying, “I’m behind in life,” try, […]

Vaping Horror as First Ever Study Reveals Deadly Side Effects

Vaping may be more dangerous to the body than cigarettes – putting long-term users at risk of dementia, heart disease and organ failure, according to the author of a bombshell study.Inhaling nicotine vapour from E-cigarettes has been described by the NHS as “substantially less harmful than smoking.” But Dr Maxime Boidin, leader of the world’s first controlled study into vaping’s long-term effects at Manchester Metropolitan University – which concludes in March – believes the health threat to vapers is even worse. He adds: “Smokers tend to go outside and smoke, and once a cigarette is finished they have to light up another to keep going. But with vapes, you just keep going and it’s much harder to know how many puffs you’ve had. It’s much easier to vape continuously because you can do it in places where smoking might be less acceptable.” Shocked by his own findings, he says: “What we have found is the dangers for someone who keeps vaping are no different from smokers. “At the beginning (of the study) I also believed that vaping was more beneficial than smoking. You see a lot more people vaping these days because they don’t think it’s too bad. Many will be horrified […]

Combination of These Supplements and Exercise May Slow Biological Aging

Approximately one-fourth of people in the United States age 65 and older are in only fair or poor health. While we can’t change our chronological age, various lifestyle practices can slow biological aging and delay the onset of chronic disease and frailty. Biological age refers to the health of the cells and tissues, which is dependent upon an array of genetic and environmental factors. A new clinical trial found that omega-3 fatty acid supplements have a small slowing effect on biological aging. Additional slowing occurs when these supplements are combined with vitamin D supplements and home exercise. An influential member of the natural health community, Dr. Joseph Mercola, a board-certified family medicine osteopathic physician, agrees that lifestyle factors can slow aging, yet he takes issue with some of the trial’s findings. “Relying solely on supplements is a poor substitute to get the nutrients your body was built to receive,” he told The Epoch Times in an email. Later in this article, he shares his recommendations for slowing aging. Findings The clinical trial, called the DO-HEALTH trial and published in Nature Aging, involved a prior phase and a current phase. The prior phase found three interventions linked to better health in aging, and the current phase found that the interventions also linked to better biological […]

China Reports New Coronavirus ‘With Pandemic Potential’ Discovered

Another coronavirus feared to be powerful enough to spread through humans has been discovered in China.  In scenes eerily reminiscent of the beginnings of Covid, researchers at the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology detected the new strain living within bats. HKU5-CoV-2 is strikingly similar to the pandemic virus, sparking fears that history could repeat itself just two years after the worst was declared over.  The new virus is even closer related to MERS, a deadlier type of coronavirus that kills up to a third of people it infects. Virologist Shi Zhengli, known as ‘Batwoman’ for her work on coronaviruses, led the discovery, published in a top scientific journal. The new HKU5-CoV-2 is a coronavirus belonging to the merbecovirus family of pathogens. Merbecoviruses have been detected in minks and pangolins – the animal believed to be the intermediary for Covid between bats and humans. This, the scientists wrote, ‘suggests frequent cross-species transmission of these viruses between bats and other animal species.’ They added: ‘This study reveals a distinct lineage of HKU5-CoVs in bats that efficiently use human [cells] and underscores their potential zoonotic risk.’ HKU5-CoV viruses were first detected in bats in 2006, but the new data suggests HKU5-CoV-2 has a ‘higher potential for […]

Saudi Arabia: Meningitis Vaccine Recommended For Umrah Pilgrims In Ramadan 2025

The Saudi health authorities have urged all Muslims wishing to perform the Umrah or minor pilgrimage during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan to get the meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before travelling to Mecca. The Saudi Ministry of Health said the preventive measure aims to enhance pilgrims’ immunity against infections that may be transmitted in crowded places.  The ministry added that the vaccine provides protection for five years, thereby bolstering personal and collective protection, and helping maintain public health during the Umrah season. People who received the vaccine in the past five years do not need to be revaccinated, according to the ministry. It advised worshippers to observe other preventive measures such as washing hands regularly and wearing a face mask in crowded places. Ramadan traditionally marks the peak season of the Umrah in the Grand Mosque, Islam’s most sacred place in the Saudi city of Mecca, amid stepped-up preparations from authorities in the country to cope with the expected influx of worshippers. The current season of Umrah, which can be undertaken around the year, began in late June after the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The main rituals of the Umrah are encircling the Holy Kaaba […]

Over 500 COVID Studies Retracted For “Unreliable” Information

Retractions are driven by pressure to produce studies quickly, watchdog co-founder says More than 500 studies on COVID-19 have been withdrawn due to “bias,” “unreliable” information, or unspecified reasons, a blog that tracks retracted documents, found. Retraction Watch co-founder Ivan Oransky told The College Fix via phone interview one reason for the high number of retractions is the academic system’s incentive structure which pressures researchers to rapidly produce studies and get them peer reviewed as quickly as possible. “Why do they feel the need to rush papers through? Well, it’s because that’s how they get or keep their jobs, that’s how they get grants, everything is based on that,” he said. “When you know that your whole career depends on publishing papers in particular journals, you’re going to do what you have to do to publish those papers. Most of the time that means you work hard, you hire the smart grad students and postdocs,” he said. Oransky also said researchers may feel “too desperate” or that “incentives are so stark” that there’s no “humanly possible way” to do it. “So you start engaging in misconduct,” he said. The articles in the list pertain to risk factors related to COVID-19 vaccines and various […]

Trump Could Be About To Ban COVID Vaccines; Report

Trump health officials could be about to recommend a complete stop to covid vaccines for all age groups in the US, according to a report. The move would effectively ban the vaccines amid widespread suggestions that they are having expansive side effects and causing a spike in excess deaths. The Daily Mail outlines how Dr Jay Bhattacharya, President Trump’s nomination to lead the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has backed a petition calling for the mRNA vaccines to be paused and retested. Bhattacharya, an Infectious diseases expert, has signed on to the Hope Accord, which claims there is a ‘casual link’ between the mRNA shots and an alarming rise in excess deaths worldwide, the report further notes. The report also asserts that new Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr is ready to axe the shots if the data supports such a move. RFK previously petitioned the FDA to revoke emergency authorisation of the shots six months after they were rolled out, citing a lack of data for their effectiveness or safety. Kennedy has since said that while he wouldn’t have directly blocked the vaccines if he was in government, “I would have made sure that we had the best science, and there was no effort to do that at […]

I Drank Kefir for a Month and It Made Me Feel Like a Superhuman – What’s the Secret Behind This Gut-Friendly Drink?

While the plant-based revolution might have reduced the amount of lactose in our diets, certain dairy-based foods are making a comeback in the name of good health, and kefir is one of them. I used to think of kefir as one of those slightly icky health foods – probably incredibly good for you but mildly gross. Fermented yogurt? Not the sexiest foodstuff. So despite it being recommended by nutritionists, I eschewed kefir and opted for trendier foods and drinks like kombucha and kimchi instead. These other fermented foods were at least a step in the right direction, especially as new research suggests the health of our guts could be responsible for any number of complaints and maladies. One recent study found that the cure for clinical depression might lie in gut regulation, and another suggested we might sleep better if our gut bacteria were more stable. Foods and drinks that contain gut-friendly bacteria hold a lot of power and we’re only just beginning to realise just how essential good gut health is for better long-term wellbeing. Nevertheless, a growing interest in the gut has led to a marketing boost for gut-friendly foods and, once again, kefir has appeared on my radar. “Kefir is a cousin to yoghurt – the main difference being it contains more […]

Saudi Arabia: Kitchen Facilities Banned From Using Knives With Wooden Handles

Central kitchens serving restaurants and households in Saudi Arabia are barred from using wooden boards or knives with wooden handles to cut meat, poultry and fish, according to regulations proposed by the kingdom’s Ministry of Municipalities. Instead, these tools are to be replaced with boards and knives with handles made of food-safe materials such as plastic for easy cleaning. The draft also stipulates that an approved area be designated for food preparation and restricted to food handling only. This area must be visible to service recipients and separated by transparent glass with the possibility of using cameras and screens, reported the Saudi newspaper Okaz. The central kitchen must also include a designated area for handling uncooked food. It must be designed in a way that ensures food operations proceed in one direction only, from receiving it to storing it, then preparing and cooking it, and ending with packaging, serving or distributing it in order to curb the likelihood of contamination. In addition, the draft prohibits the reuse of food previously served or sold, and obligates restaurants and kitchens to contract with one of the licensed food preservation groups to redistribute the surplus food to avoid its waste. Cats and dogs The […]
