In the 1980s, peanut allergies were almost entirely unheard-of. Today, the United States has one of the highest peanut-allergy rates in the world. Disturbingly, this epidemic was precipitated by institutions that exist to promote public health. The story of their malpractice illuminates the fallibility of respected institutions, and confirms that public health’s catastrophically incorrect guidance during the Covid-19 pandemic wasn’t an isolated anomaly. The roots of this particular example of expert-inflicted mass suffering can be found in the early 1990s, when the existence of peanut allergies — still a very rare and mostly low-risk phenomenon at the time — first came to public notice. Their entry into public consciousness began with studies published by medical researchers. By the mid-1990s, however, major media outlets were running attention-grabbing stories of hospitalized children and terrified parents. The Great Parental Peanut Panic was on. As fear and dread mounted, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), a professional association of tens of thousands of US pediatricians, felt compelled to tell parents how to prevent their children from becoming the latest victims. “There was just one problem: They didn’t know what precautions, if any, parents should take,” wrote then-Johns Hopkins surgeon and now-FDA Commissioner Marty Makary in his 2024 book, Blind Spots: When […]

One in 10 people say they have been harmed by the NHS, according to a study published in the BMJ Quality & Safety Journal. Researchers surveyed over 10,000 people across England, Wales, and Scotland between 2021 and 2022 and found that 988 of them (9.7 percent) had reported experiencing physical or emotional harm caused by the health service in the previous three years. According to researchers at the University of Oxford’s Population Health and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), 6.2 percent said they experienced harm owing to care they had received. The remaining 3.5 percent blamed the harm on having a lack of access to treatment. The study, published on Tuesday, found that just 17 percent of people chose to take formal action by making a complaint, with an even smaller proportion (2.1 percent) taking legal action. Bahrain is set to roll out mandatory health insurance for expatriates and foreign visitors as part of an ambitious BD688 million plan to transform its public healthcare system. The proposal, outlined in the 2025-2026 draft budget, will require approximately 686,000 expats and their dependents, along with over 1.6 million annual visitors, to obtain health insurance. The move aims to relieve pressure on public hospitals, reduce government spending on emergency medical care, and ensure equitable access to healthcare services. Under the plan, visitors will pay an additional visa fee, while the existing basic healthcare fee system for expatriate residents will be scrapped. Dependents, previously excluded from state healthcare coverage, will now be insured. Citizens of other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will be exempt from the new regulations. To ease burden The government currently covers emergency medical expenses for visitors, a practice it deems financially unsustainable. By shifting to a mandatory insurance model, officials expect to ease the burden on the public healthcare sector. New health centres The BD688 million investment represents a 17% increase from the previous two-year budget. Funds will be allocated to build new health centres, expand existing facilities, and upgrade hospital departments. Additionally, the government plans to […]

Saudi commerce authorities have seized large quantities of sweets unfit for human consumption during a raid on a suspected facility in Najran, southwest of the kingdom, ahead of the high-demand Eid Al Fitr season, media reports said. The Ministry of Commerce stated that its monitoring teams shut down a facility where illegal workers were producing sweets and pastries using expired ingredients. The workers were referred to authorities for legal action and “deterrent penalties.” The ministry did not specify the number of arrests. During the raid, officials confiscated and destroyed large quantities of expired sweets, chocolates, and pastries before they could reach the market. Documents and evidence linked to suspected commercial cover-up practices were also seized, according to the Saudi newspaper Al Yaum. Under Saudi Arabia’s anti-commercial fraud law, offenders face up to three years in prison, fines of up to SR1 million, or both. Violating expat workers are deported, while citizens involved are publicly named after final court rulings. Additionally, breaching the anti-commercial cover-up law carries penalties of up to five years in prison, fines up to SR5 million, and confiscation of illicit funds upon conviction.

Texas administered 15,000 more measles vaccinations (MMR) this year compared to 2024—and now there’s a growing measles outbreak that has surpassed the total number of cases reported across the entire United States last year. The news follows this website’s February report that measles cases in Gaines County, Texas, had jumped 242% following a health district campaign to hand out free measles vaccines. A measles outbreak after higher vaccination rates in Texas calls into question the shot’s claimed effectiveness and underlying design. Timeline & Numbers Between January 1 and March 16 last year, 158,000 measles vaccines were administered in the state, according to CBS News. During the same time this year, 173,000 measles doses were given. There are now more measles cases in Texas than there were across the United States in all of 2024. On Friday, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported 309 cases have been identified in the state since late January. That’s compared to only 285 cases nationwide last year, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data. What’s worse, measles cases in West Texas are “still on the rise” and “local public health officials say they expect the virus to keep spreading for at least several more months and […]

A 30-year study finds a primarily plant-based diet, with minimal ultra-processed food and low to moderate amounts of animal-based foods like fish and dairy, could raise our chances of reaching 70 without developing chronic disease, according to a new study from Harvard researchers. Healthy aging, as defined by the researchers, means reaching age 70 free of major chronic diseases, with good cognitive, physical, and mental health. “Our findings suggest that dietary patterns rich in plant-based foods, with moderate inclusion of healthy animal-based foods, may promote overall healthy aging and help shape future dietary guidelines,” senior study author Marta Guasch-Ferré said in a press release. Two Diets Linked to Optimal Aging The study, recently published in Nature Medicine, examined the midlife diets and health outcomes of more than 105,000 middle-aged women and men aged 39 to 69 over 30 years. The team evaluated how effectively the participants adhered to eight different largely-plant-based diets: the Alternative Health Eating Index (AHEI), the Alternative Mediterranean Diet (aMED), the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension diet (DASH), the MIND diet, the Healthful Plant-Based Diet, the Planetary Health Diet Index, the Empirically Inflammatory Dietary Pattern, and the Empirical Dietary Index for Hyperinsulinemia. Of the participants, 10 percent were identified as aging healthfully and […]

Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong – a transplant surgeon-turned-biotech billionaire renowned for inventing the cancer drug Abraxane – has issued a startling warning in a new in-depth interview with Tucker Carlson.Soon-Shiong, founder of ImmunityBio ($IBRX) and owner of the Los Angeles Times, claims that the COVID-19 pandemic, and the very vaccines developed to fight it, may be contributing to a global surge in “terrifyingly aggressive” cancers. In the nearly two-hour conversation, the Los Angeles Times owner leveraged his decades of clinical and scientific experience to outline why he suspects an unprecedented cancer epidemic is unfolding. This report examines Dr. Soon-Shiong’s background and assertions, the scientific responses for and against his claims, new data on post-COVID health trends, and the far-reaching implications if his alarming hypothesis proves true. Dr. Soon-Shiong’s Claims Soon-Shiong is a veteran surgeon and immunologist who has spent a career studying the human immune system’s fight against cancer. He pioneered novel immunotherapies and even worked on a T-cell based COVID vaccine booster during the pandemic. In the interview, he draws on this background to voice deep concern over rising cancer cases, especially among younger people – something he describes as a “non-infectious pandemic” of cancer. He tells Carlson that in 50 years of medical practice, it […]

When it comes to training, you may be under the impression that more reps and sets equals more gains. And to an extent, you would be correct. However, the law of diminishing gains applies to our ability to get bigger, stronger and recover well. So, what really happens when we compare an increase in different training volumes? Researchers set out to find out exactly that. The Study Published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, the study aimed to investigate how changes in weekly resistance training volume impacts muscle size, maximal strength, and muscular endurance in trained lifters. The researchers sought to determine whether increasing training volume by 30% or 60% would lead to greater muscular adaptations compared to maintaining previous training levels. The Methods The study involved: The Results Muscle Growth Strength Muscular Endurance The Conclusion What Does This Mean for Us?
