Bait Maryam, a Dubai-based restaurant specializing in Levantine cuisine recently became the recipient of a Michelin Star Guide award. The Bib Gourmand Award for high-quality food at low prices was awarded to 14 restaurants featured in the comprehensive manual exploring the best eateries in Dubai. Inspired by her mother’s relationship with the community, Chef Salam Daqqaq established Bait Maryam, providing a homely experience for those visiting the Levantine restaurant. We recently had an opportunity to interview Nada Darraj, General Manager at Bait Maryam to know more about the restaurant. You are one of 14 restaurants in Dubai to receive the prestigious Bib Gourmand Award. How will this recognition affect your business? The award will positively affect the business in terms of worldwide exposure. A Palestinian-owned restaurant and chef achieving a prestigious award like this one is a matter of great pride for us! We are grateful to have been recognized in a city that brims with F&B options. What is the bestselling item off your menu? What makes it special? Our best seller is the Fatet mouskhan and what makes it so special is that my mother, Chef Salam Daqqaq created it inspired by the famous Mouskhan in Levantine cuisine. […]

Gulf Insider’s Charlie Cooksey spends a weekend at the breathtaking Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, a Four Seasons Hotel in Nice, France. It’s easy to claim that a hotel is synonymous with luxury, yet visiting a 5-star hotel in person and being shown a luxury accommodation is quite another. The Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat does not disappoint; from its palatial-like exterior and interior to the staff that recalls everyone by name, this hotel has earned its five stars. The Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat is about 20 minutes by car from the city center of Nice, and the hotel is rich in history. It was initially built in 1908 and continually added to until World War I. It became a temporary war hospital. In the early 1930s, it once again shifted to a glamorous hotel. After changing hands for a few years starting in the 60s, it eventually became a Four Seasons Hotel in 2015. This landmark hotel residing in the French Rivera boasts incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea and proximity to Paloma Beach and various high-end outlet shops. The glamour and sophistication of the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat have brought various celebrities and famous icons into its rooms, from Charlie Chaplin to Winston Churchill […]

Charlie Cooksey spent a summer getaway in the iconic New York City, staying at The Ritz-Carlton Central Park. Mention The Ritz-Carlton, and images of luxe suites and Central Park are conjured into mind. These idyllic images are not far from my experience while staying at the well-known Ritz-Carlton Central Park. This 5-star luxury hotel is located in Midtown Manhattan, offering ample opportunities to discover nearby restaurants and attractions like Rockefeller Center. The Ritz-Carlton Central Park is about a 30-minute drive from LaGuardia Airport, achieved via taxi or rental car. It is located alongside Central Park, accessible by simply crossing the street. This incredible location offers the ability to roll out of bed and enjoy an early morning walk through the park. While there are 111 Ritz-Carlton company locations, this is their flagship property, and rightfully so. Upon arrival, I was greeted by an incredibly friendly staff and shown to my room by Jeremy. I was pleasantly surprised by a champagne bottle on ice waiting for me when entering my room. A few steps further into the room provided an incredible display of candies, chocolates, and sweets with edible Bahrain and British flag decorations. My photo was included, providing the perfect […]

Charlie Cooksey interviews Royal Ambassador CEO, Eng. Mohamed Al Kooheji. Fontana infinity is one of the latest and most beautiful developments in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Just recently, Gulf Insider sat down with Eng. Mohamed Al Kooheji, CEO of Royal Ambassador to discuss real estate in Bahrain as well as the newly launched Tower B of Fontana Infinity. The economy is still recovering from the effects of COVID-19. Why launch the FI Tower B now? Looking into the investment landscape in Bahrain and different asset classes today – whether bonds, gold, equity, cash, or real estate – I would say that considering real estate is one of the best investments as real estate in Bahrain is undervalued and there’s huge potential for growth. Looking into bonds, we used to see high numbers in 2017-2018, with bonds with a return of up to 6%. But today, the opportunities are no longer as they used to be, with returns of 2-3.5%. When it comes to gold, we can see that gold has skyrocketed up to $2,000. When it comes to other asset classes like cash, today, it’s the worst as we can see inflation and today many investors are considering real […]

While the city may be buzzing, the Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is a luxurious respite to enjoy a relaxing stay in the heart of the city. This 5-star luxury hotel is located in the financial district, a few blocks from the iconic Woolworth Building, Central Park, North Cove Marina, and Wall Street. It features 157 private apartments, 24 floors dedicated to hotel rooms, and a modern, sleek design that creates a plush feeling. This hotel is often frequented by business travelers, though it is also ideal for families and solo travelers.
