A Dubai misdemeanours court has fined a 24-year-old Asian driver Dh5,000 after convicting him in absentia of causing injuries to several people and damaging multiple vehicles in a traffic accident in the Jebel Ali area. According to the court’s findings, the defendant was driving a private vehicle in Jebel Ali when he lost control due to careless and inattentive driving. His vehicle suddenly swerved, colliding first with another car before continuing on and crashing into three public transport vehicles, triggering a chain of consecutive collisions, Emarat Al Youm reported. The accident resulted in injuries to five people and caused material damage to several vehicles. The court said the defendant’s liability was established through the official accident report, on-site inspections, traffic investigation records and a technical sketch of the incident, which confirmed his fault in the collision and his responsibility for endangering the safety of others and damaging property belonging to third parties. Medical reports submitted to the court confirmed that the injured individuals sustained varying degrees of injury. The case file also included the defendant’s admission during the police investigation. Despite being legally notified, the defendant failed to appear before the court, allowing judges to proceed with the trial in […]

Pakistan has allowed its citizens in the UAE, GCC, and other countries to import used cars up to three years old under two schemes. A statement issued by the Pakistan government said that the Federal Cabinet has approved the Economic Coordination Committee’s decision, taken on December 9, 2025, to allow the import of used vehicles up to 3 years old under the Transfer of Residence and Gift Schemes, according to a report by Business Recorder. The statement said the imported vehicle cannot be transferred or sold for one year. As reported earlier, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) clarified that only overseas Pakistanis in the UAE and other countries are eligible to import cars under the gift or transfer of residence schemes. However, the Personal Baggage scheme was excluded from the permissible category. Over 1.7 million Pakistani citizens live in the UAE, and more than 5.5 million across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Globally, the number exceeds 9 million. The Pakistani diaspora in the UAE and other countries has asked the government to allow them to import cars under the three categories. Many Pakistani families returning home after years abroad want to take their expensive goods and cars with them. […]

Abu Dhabi Police said on Thursday that it responded to seven motorbike accidents in desert areas, resulting in nine injuries ranging from serious to moderate, and urged riders to comply with safety precautions while driving off-road. The accidents, which occurred in sandy areas, were a result of reckless driving and failure to comply with safety requirements, the police force added. A police officer in Al Ain Region called on parents to accompany the children to the areas where they practise motorcycle riding—particularly uninhabited sandy areas, in an attempt to prevent such behaviours that could lead to serious traffic accidents. Riders of motorbikes are urged to strictly adhere to traffic rules and safety instructions, wear protective helmets to guard against head injuries, and ensure they are dressed in appropriate riding gear, said Brigadier Mahmoud Yousif Al Baloushi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate. Checking the roadworthiness of their motorbikes is equally important, he added, including the condition of front and rear lights and tyres. They are also urged to always carry a first-aid kit and approved protective equipment. Al Baloush called on riders to reduce their speed in congested areas and to use only designated routes as indicated by traffic […]

Saudi Arabia has topped global rankings for road connectivity, with its national highway network extending more than 73,000 kilometres, longer than the Earth’s circumference of about 40,075 kilometres, according to the Roads General Authority. The achievement places the Kingdom first worldwide in the Road Network Connectivity Index, based on reports by the World Competitiveness Forum, reflecting years of sustained investment in transport infrastructure and network integration. The authority said the scale of the road network is matched by its strategic importance. Saudi Arabia’s highways serve as a critical backbone for domestic mobility and regional connectivity, linking the Kingdom with eight neighbouring countries, including GCC states, Jordan, Iraq and Yemen. This connectivity underpins key sectors such as Hajj and Umrah, tourism, trade and logistics, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub. Saudi achieves global transport milestone In addition to leading the global connectivity index, the Kingdom ranked fourth among G20 countries in the Road Infrastructure Quality Index, highlighting the quality and reliability of its road assets alongside their scale. The Roads General Authority said it applies international best practices across planning, design, construction and maintenance to enhance safety and user experience. A major step in this effort has been […]

Genesis is pivoting from pure luxury to high-performance territory, marking its most ambitious product shift in a decade. Spearheading this shift is the GV60 Magma, Genesis’s first dedicated performance production model. It arrived in late 2025 alongside a suite of concept vehicles that signal the brand’s long-term direction. The GV60 Magma: Performance Reimagined The GV60 Magma sits 20 mm lower and noticeably wider than the standard model, giving it a planted, aggressive stance that enhances high-speed stability. Its dual-motor setup delivers 448 kW (609 hp) as standard, climbing to 478 kW (650 hp) and 790 Nm of torque with Boost Mode engaged. That power propels the GV60 Magma to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds, with a top speed capped at 264 km/h. The performance credentials extend beyond straight-line speed, though. The hardware includes 21-inch forged wheels, uprated brakes, and an electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD) that channels power effectively to the rear wheels. Elevating the Driving Experience Genesis isn’t chasing lap records with the Magma programme. Instead, the focus is on driver engagement, blending electric efficiency with feedback through several bespoke technologies. The Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) mimics the tactile kick and auditory theatre of a traditional gearbox. Complementing this is […]

Saudi Aramco will introduce a new 98-octane gasoline grade to the Saudi market from early 2026, giving owners of sports and high-performance vehicles a fuel tailored to advanced engines while leaving existing grades unchanged. The launch is part of a broader effort, guided by the Ministry of Energy, to match fuel supply with shifting demand patterns and the growing presence of vehicles that require higher octane for optimal performance and efficiency. New grade targets performance engines Gasoline (98) is being set as a premium product designed specifically for sports cars and other high-performance engines that need higher octane levels to run efficiently and avoid knocking. By adding this grade alongside current gasoline products rather than replacing them, Aramco is giving consumers more choice and addressing a niche that has expanded as the local car fleet becomes more diverse and technologically advanced. The company expects the new fuel to support both the automotive and energy sectors, improving performance for engines built to global premium standards and helping drivers extract better efficiency from vehicles calibrated for higher octane. The availability of a locally supplied 98-octane option also aligns Saudi Arabia more closely with other major markets where such fuels are standard for […]

Dubai Police have impounded a high-performance vehicle and taken legal action against its driver after a viral social media video showed the car being driven recklessly across multiple locations in the city. The vehicle was impounded and the driver faces legal action, including a fine of up to AED 10,000 to release the vehicle. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, said traffic patrols traced the vehicle after it was filmed performing dangerous stunts that posed a serious threat to public safety. Authorities said the violations included excessive speeding and illegal vehicle modifications, which caused flames to shoot from the exhaust and produced excessive noise, disturbing residents and other motorists. “The road is not a stage for stunts or risky experiments,” Brigadier bin Suwaidan said, warning that such behaviour could lead to severe accidents, loss of vehicle control and distractions for other road users. Brigadier bin Suwaidan added that Dubai Police use advanced technology and digital monitoring systems to identify traffic offenders, including through videos shared on social media. “Maintaining discipline on the roads is a shared responsibility,” he said, urging motorists to comply with traffic laws and avoid illegal modifications. Dubai Police also […]
