North Koreans Ordered To Identify Women With “Un-Socialist” Breasts

Authorities in North Korea have been ordered to identify women with “un-socialist” and “bourgeois” breast implants, The Telegraph reports, citing local media. Undercover agents are now groping for ‘enhanced’ women, as well as for doctors who perform the cosmetic procedures, primarily around the city of Sariwon, with perpetrators facing potential detention in the country’s notorious labor camps. Suspected women will be “taken to hospitals to undergo medical examinations to ascertain whether any procedures have taken place,” a tough job for whoever has to do it.  The controversy bounced into the headlines after a dropout medical student was busted performing the surgery out of his home. During his trial, prosecutors displayed his surgical devices, along with imported Chinese silicone breasts and bundles of cash.  The Telegraph reports: The city’s residents, who had turned out to attend the public hearing, watched as the women and the doctor were dragged out onto an open stage, where they stood with their heads bowed for the proceedings. The two women told prosecutors and the presiding judge that they had undergone the surgeries because they “wanted to improve their bodies”. The judge called the breast augmentation surgery an “un-socialist act” and said one of the defendants “had no intention of being loyal […]

The skies of AlUla witnessed a rare and spectacular sight when environmental monitors at the Sharaan Nature Reserve recorded the appearance of a Rüppell’s vulture, an endangered species and one of the world’s highest-flying birds. This marks only the second official sighting of the bird in AlUla, underscoring the region’s growing importance as a sanctuary for rare wildlife. Ancient rock carvings in the area even depict scenes of humans and wildlife coexisting, a reminder of the region’s deep natural heritage. The Sharaan Nature Reserve, spanning over 1,500 square kilometres, has been at the forefront of conservation efforts. It is home to Arabian wolves, gazelles, eagles, and other rare species, while also serving as a hub for wildlife repopulation programs. Officials say the vulture’s return reaffirms the reserve’s role as a safe environment for endangered species. Beyond its ecological significance, the sighting adds to AlUla’s reputation as a global destination where history, culture, and […]

An Impending Population Crisis? World Fertility Rate Hits 60-Year Low

Fertility rates have plummeted worldwide over the past six decades, leading experts to warn of dire consequences as the downward trend continues. Continued low fertility rates will cause “a gradual implosion of the world’s economy as the population ages and dies,” Steven Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute, told The Epoch Times in an email. Mosher is an expert on population control, demography, and China. “This will not occur overnight, of course, but once it is well underway it will be difficult, if not impossible, to reverse course,” he said. Fertility rates (the average number of children born to a woman in her lifetime) are different from birthrates (the number of live births per 1,000 people in a population over a given period), although the terms are related and often used interchangeably. Countries with low fertility rates are also likely to have low birthrates. Macroeconomist Jesús Fernández-Villaverde called low fertility rates “the true economic challenge of our time,” in a February report for the American Enterprise Institute. In 1960, the average woman bore four or five children in her lifetime. By 2023, that number had halved to 2.2, approaching 2.1, the replacement level—or the level at which a population replaces itself from one generation […]

During the latest session, the defendants denied all charges. Contracts The third and fourth defendants argued they were unaware the employment contracts were forged, while the second defendant claimed he is illiterate and unable to use a computer. Several defense lawyers appeared in court. Attorney Hamad Boushlaibi submitted a memorandum seeking his client’s acquittal, while lawyer Fatima Al-Mutawa, representing attorney Sharifa, requested additional time to review documents and prepare her defense. The court adjourned the case until September 28. The case was uncovered after the General Authority for Social Insurance flagged irregularities during routine inspections. Investigators found that the companies had submitted falsified contracts to register employees, enabling them to claim unemployment benefits and lump-sum payouts. Officials discovered that the firms had no physical presence at their listed commercial addresses.Further scrutiny revealed repeated signatures on multiple contracts and uniform salary […]
