Flydubai announced the launch of flights to Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan starting July 1, 2024 from Terminal 2 at Dubai International (DXB), serving 1.7 million Pakistani nationals living and working in the UAE. “Pakistan has long been an important market for flydubai. Since 2010 when we first started operations to the market, we have seen sustained demand for travel and with the start of our daily services to Islamabad and Lahore, we look forward to offering passengers more opportunities to explore Dubai, the GCC region and beyond on the flydubai network,” said Hamad Obaidalla, chief commercial officer at flydubai. A new city check-in service has opened in Al Ain for passengers travelling from the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. The latest branch of Morafiq Aviation Services, which operates the city check-in services, has come up at Lulu Hypermarket, Kuwaitat, Shakhboot Bin Sultan Street, Central District. It is the third facility to be launched this year in the emirate of Abu Dhabi after the opening of service centres in Mussafah and Yas Mall. A flight from Manchester to UAE was delayed on Sunday due to a power outage at the British airport, creating “chaos”. Emirates airline sent out a message to passengers, informing them of the flight delay. In the early hours of Sunday, Manchester Airport was affected by a significant power cut. Jasmine B, scheduled to fly on EK0022 from Manchester to Dubai on Sunday. “My flight was scheduled for 9.50am from Manchester to Dubai. As I was leaving for the airport, I noticed that there was a 3-hour delay in my flight. In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India to facilitate more amenities for Indian nationals and OCI passengers coming from other countries, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Fast Track Immigration — Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Saturday. The objective of the programme is to make international travel easy and secure by developing world-class immigration facilities through an accelerated immigration pathway for international travellers screened through automated gates (e-Gates). In the event, the Home Minister said, “this facility will be available free of cost for all passengers”. The programme is designed for faster, smoother and safer immigration clearance for international travellers. It will run on e-gates or automated border gates, which will minimise human intervention in the immigration clearance process. The programme will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, Indian citizens and OCI cardholders will be covered and in the second phase, foreign travellers will be covered. FTI-TTP will be launched at 21 major airports in the country. The trial of a public school accountant accused of embezzling BD1,800 has been postponed until June 25th, 2024, for closing arguments. The defendant, responsible for managing the school’s finances, is charged with embezzling money from the school’s funds by altering invoices and purchase receipts. An audit by the Ministry of Education’s financial resources department revealed the discrepensies and ensuing investigation. Officials found that the suspect used correction fluid to alter amounts on the invoices to steal from the fund. Investigators said the defendant made good use of her official responsibility to enter invoices into the system and print the disbursement vouchers. She also served on the school’s finance committee, overseeing maintenance and procurement activities. A forensic audit confirmed systematic embezzlement through invoice manipulation and payment processing within the school’s system, with the total embezzled exceeding 1,800 dinars. The defendant appeared before the High Criminal Court to answer these charges, facing potential imprisonment and fines if convicted.

Astronomy researcher Mohammed Redha Al Asfoor has announced that Bahrain will witness the first full moon of the summer season today and tomorrow. This event coincides with the astronomical start of summer, which occurs at 11.50 tonight. The full moon will reach its peak at 100% tomorrow, at 4:07am, local time in Bahrain. Al Asfoor explained that the full moon of June is known as the “Strawberry Moon,” a name originating from Native American tribes, referring to the strawberry harvest season in the US. Etihad Airways is celebrating the launch of flights to eight destinations this June as it massively expands its network. This month’s new and returning destinations include India, Bali, Turkey, Spain, France and Saudi Arabia. The new additions take the total number of operating routes this summer to 76.
