Coronavirus: 23 Cases Confirmed in Bahrain
The Ministry of Health has registered 6 new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) carried by Bahraini citizens arriving at Bahrain International Airport via Sharjah, confirming a total of 23 registered cases in the Kingdom so far.
The Ministry highlighted that the health and safety of Bahrain’s citizens and residents continue to be the Kingdom’s top priority, noting it is coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure precautionary measures related to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus are implemented.
The Ministry further highlighted its commitment to inform the public on all COVID-19 related developments, reiterating the importance of only receiving information from official, verified sources.
The Ministry stressed that all passengers arriving from affected countries are being tested in a well-equipped and isolated area within the Bahrain International Airport.
The Ministry noted that the 6 infected patients will be immediately transferred to the Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Community Medical Center in Al Salmaniya, for quarantine and treatment, adding that the infected patients were Bahraini nationals (four men and two women), arriving from Iran via Sharjah. The Ministry further noted that all individuals in contact with the infected patients have also been quarantined as a precautionary measure.
The Ministry outlined that the infected Individuals had arrived in the Kingdom before the Civil Aviation Authority’s decision to suspend flights from Dubai International Airport and Sharjah International Airport for 48 hours.
The Ministry highlighted that a comprehensive medical protocol is being followed to combat COVID-19, which is in line with established international guidelines as set out by the Gulf Health Council (GHC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Ministry calls upon all citizens and residents who are experiencing symptoms of COVID19 to isolate themselves, call 444 and follow the instructions given by the medical team, and avoid close contact with others.
