The Ministry of Health is encouraging citizens and residents, particularly those most susceptible to COVID-19 and its complications, to administer booster doses of the Pfizer (XBB 1.5) vaccine.
Dr. Basma Al-Saffar, Head of the Disease Control Department, clarified that the initial dose of the Pfizer vaccine is recommended for individuals who haven’t received any COVID-19 vaccine previously.
Booster doses are advised for those aged 12 and above and individuals aged 50 and above and those with chronic conditions such as respiratory, cardiovascular, kidney, liver, blood, and metabolic diseases (including diabetes and neurological conditions).
Additionally, individuals with obesity, immune deficiencies, pregnant women, and healthcare workers are identified as more susceptible to COVID-19 and its complications.
