Spain’s health ministry has just given out the latest figures, which show a new record single-day death toll.
There have been 769 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 4,858. This is a new high – the previous record was 738, between Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The country now has 64,059 confirmed cases up from 56,188 yesterday.
Spain extended its coronavirus lockdown today and said it was fighting a “real war” over medical supplies to contain the world’s second-highest virus death toll, turning to China for many critical medical products.
