Oman: Coronavirus Infections Yet to Peak, Official Warns

Oman has not reached the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, according to Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosni, undersecretary for health affairs at the Ministry of Health.

Speaking to Oman TV earlier in the week, Dr. Al Hosni said that the ministry’s most extreme projections forecast that the number of daily positive cases will peak at 1,500 per day, of which 500 will need to be hospitalised and 150 will need intensive care.

“83 per cent of those infected with COVID-19 in Oman are in the age group 15 to 50 years old,” he added.

Authorities in Oman have warned residents to exercise caution and follow guidelines during Eid holidays.

There have been over 7,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Sultanate.
