Customs officer jailed for forging official documents

Manama: The first High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced an employee at the Customs Affairs in Interior Ministry to one-year imprisonment for counterfeiting official documents.

Court files say the 39-year-old employee counterfeited documents from the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) to secure more official powers.

The Customs Affairs notified the incident to General Directorate of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security which resulted in launching an investigation.

He told the investigators that the documents were forged for obtaining the position of Equipment Management Supervisor at the Training and Development Directorate.

The court found the man guilty for counterfeiting official documents and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment yesterday.
