Abu Dhabi Police warned motorists and members of the public not to hinder ambulances and Civil Defence vehicles from reaching accident sites, or they will be fined Dh1,000. The General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police warned that the fine will be imposed to prevent crowding and random parking on the roads at traffic accident sites, which can cause bottlenecks.
Major Abdullah Al Qubaisi, head of the Traffic Control Department at the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Directorate said some accidents occur due to curious onlookers — both motorists and pedestrians — who crowd accident sites without considering the flow of traffic. He said that this can lead to run-over accidents.
He warned that onlookers who take pictures of accident scenes and the injured and share these photos on social media will face legal accountability for breaching the privacy of the injured and those affected by the accidents.
