Saudi prohibits use of trucks older than 20 years

Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority has stated that the corrective period has expired for some provisions regulating the activity of transporting goods, freight brokers, and renting trucks, which were approved and published on Jan. 2, 2020, noting that licensed individuals and facilities must now not use trucks manufactured over 20 years ago.

The authority pointed out that the period for licensed goods transport facilities to meet the requirement to provide a minimum of 10 individual transport vehicles or locomotives has been extended, to a maximum period of three years, provided that at least two vehicles are added annually until the required minimum is completed.

Licensed facilities must adhere to the operational age of the truck, without requiring a specific nationality for the driver, provided that the Saudization percentage specified by the Ministry of Human Resources is respected.
