Dubai’s Emirates Airline is in a big push for Emiratisation of its cabin crew, the airline’s HR head said.
Emirates plans to hire as many Emiratis as possible to fill up 3000 vacancies for cabin crew globally this year, Abdul Aziz Ali, executive vice-president of Human Resources at Emirates announced at a media round table on Wednesday. He said more Emirati cabin crew was important because of Emirates’ approximately 20,000 cabin crew worldwide, only about 50 are Emirati.
The recruitment drive follows a Monday announcement by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that companies need to do more to recruit Emirati talent.
To help recruit more Emirati talent, the airline is also reportedly offering a starting salary of Dhs18,000 (approximately $4,900) per month.
Emirates is also hiring about 120 ground staff for positions in Dubai. However, applicants for those jobs must be Emirati.
