Dubai: Flights Diverted Due To Suspected Drone Activity

Dubai’s main airport closed on Sunday for 15 minutes on suspected drone activity, Emirates airline said.

Two inbound Emirates flights that were scheduled to land at Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 3 were diverted to nearby airports following reports of drone activity near DXB on Sunday.

Emirates flight EK433 from Brisbane and Singapore to Dubai International Airport (DXB) was diverted to Dubai World Central (DWC) and flight EK511 from Delhi was diverted to Sharjah International Airport (SHJ), the airline said.

“Emirates can confirm that today, Sunday, September 22, 2019, Dubai International Airport was closed from 12.36 pm to 12.51 pm local time due to suspected drone activity in the surrounding airspace,” it said.

“The diverted flights returned to Dubai International Airport when the airspace reopened.”
