Dubai schools are being asked to extend remote learning as the emirate recovers from disruption caused by heavy rains in the UAE.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority urged private schools, nurseries and universities to be flexible and offer distance learning.

The move is designed to meet the needs of both students and staff as education facilities react to historic rains that saw the UAE’s biggest downpour in more than 75 years.

Dubai schools closed AGAIN for remote learning

A statement from the KHDA said: “As our education community prepares to resume on-site learning, we ask all Dubai private schools, universities and nurseries to remain flexible and accommodating to the needs of students, teachers and staff, and continue offering distance learning for those facing ongoing logistical challenges after the severe weather”.

Schools closed on Tuesday, April 16 due to unprecedented rain in Dubai and have been offering remote learning since then.

Following the weekend and extensive clean-up operations, some neighbourhoods are still facing disruptions and logistical challenges.
