Emirates, Etihad issue advisory for UK-Pakistan passengers

With Pakistan imposing travel restrictions on flights originating from the United Kingdom (UK) over a new, more infectious strain of Covid-19, UAE-based Emirates and Etihad have issued travel advisories for the passengers concerned.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad said the restrictions will affect guests travelling with it.

“Etihad regrets any inconvenience caused to its guests by these temporary restrictions. Our teams will be assisting all affected guests to rearrange their travel plans,” the airline posted on its website.

Emirates said the “temporary restriction” is applicable to passengers travelling from the UK. “The restrictions apply to both passengers travelling directly or indirectly from the UK to Pakistan. This restriction will also apply to all passengers who originate travel from the UK, are in or have been in the UK over the course of the last 10 days,” the Dubai-based airline said.

Passengers whose travel originates from destinations other than the UK will be allowed to travel to Pakistan. Transit passengers who do not leave the terminal airside in a UK airport will be allowed to travel to Pakistan.
