A young Emirati man, Mohammed Rashid Al Tunaiji, 21, died in a crash when his vehicle sped off the road on Tuesday. He ploughed into a cement barrier before his 4×4 overturned several times at about 11.00am.
Ras Al Khaimah Police said he was speeding and that no other vehicle was involved.
Paramedics said he sustained severe injuries and died on the way to the hospital.
Police released images of the scene, which showed the extent of the damage to the vehicle. Only a single seat appears to be undamaged, with the rest of the car twisted beyond recognition.
Brig Gen Salem Al Suwaidi, from the central operations centre, urged motorists to keep to speed limits and not to put their lives at risk.
