Emirati man arrested for posting video supporting Qatar

An Emirati man posted a video online supporting Qatar, an act which has been recently criminalized as part of a boycott on Qatar. He has been recently arrested and faces up to 15 years in jail.

Ghanem Abdallah, an Emirati, posted a series of video on his Snapchat in which he calls on the UAE to “remember when Qatar helped us in Yemen by sending us troops.

He has called on the UAE people to support their Qatari “family”, and that he expects everything will be back to normal. He also provocatively boasts how Qatar is rejecting GCC demands and further states that “some people lead and some are led, and Qatar leads”.

Earlier last month, the act of supporting Qatar during the BCC boycott was deemed a criminal act which is punishable by up to 15 years in jail and a fine of $13,500.
