The Emirati who made international news when he bid at auction for Abu Dhabi’s most expensive number plate last November has been jailed for three years. The auction was held at Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi where the Emirati man wrote a cheque for AED 31 million for the number ‘1’ number plate.
Unfortunately, the man didn’t have the balance in his account to pay for the plate. At the time the 32-year old was detained over charges of fraud and issuing a bounced cheque. The man has since admitted he was aware the funds were not in his account and that he had planned to resell the number plate in order to make a profit.
