A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Bangladeshi man to three years suspended jail term and immediate deportation for attempting to bribe two policemen.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported that the court has also fined the defendant QR5,000 for the same crime.
The money used as bribe was confiscated by the court.
The issue started when the defendant was driving a vehicle without a valid driving licence and two policemen arrested him.
So, he tried to offer them a bribe of QR1,300 to release him and avoid filing a report on the case.
The policemen reported the issue to the security department concerned, which filed a case against the defendant based on the incident.
