UAE Drug Bust: Smugglers Arrested at Ras Al Khaimah Airport for Hiding 11KG of Narcotics in Luggage

Ras Al Khaimah Customs thwarted two attempts to smuggle around 11 kilograms of narcotics last week at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.

RAK Customs said customs inspectors suspected two passengers arriving at the airport based on their security sense, training, and attention to detail. When inspecting the passengers’ luggage thoroughly, inspectors uncovered the drugs hidden professionally.

The two smugglers were then arrested and handed over to authorities to face security procedures and charges.

The drug busts highlight the vital role customs officers play in protecting the UAE by stopping smuggling crimes, said Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maharzi, Director General of RAK Customs. He praised the customs inspection staff whose intensive training enables them to perform inspection procedures and use the necessary tools and facilities.

The recent airport drug seizures reflect the ongoing efforts by RAK Customs to crack down on narcotics smuggling into the country. RAK Customs vowed to continue leveraging inspectors’ skills and experience to intercept illegal shipments and arrest those involved.
