Two gardeners, who bludgeoned to death a fellow worker with axes, were both sentenced to life in jail on Monday. One of the defendants was “avenging” the murder of his brother by the deceased’s brother.
The body was discovered by a European man who found a car being driven in a suspicious way. He drove nearby and stopped his car to see the victim lying in a pool of blood. The pair stopped the victim as he was riding a bicycle. They bludgeoned him to death with axes until they almost decapitated him.
They went to the Dragon Mart in the International City where they changed their clothes and got rid of the crime tools in a garbage bin. They left their vehicle there and took a taxi to Ajman where they sought a friend’s help to secure them a hideout, but he refused. He lent them Dh3,000 and they went to Al Ain industrial area from where they tried to flee to Oman but were caught by the police.
