Bahrain: 501 Violators of ‘Khatwa’ Programme Settle Cases

A total of 114 participants in the ‘Khatwa’ programme have been cleared to continue receiving their pensions after meeting the required conditions, according to a joint announcement by the Ministry of Labour and the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO). These beneficiaries, who had added previous service periods to their records, were found to be in compliance with the rules governing their activities. The SIO also reported that 501 individuals who had breached programme guidelines successfully resolved their cases through legal settlements. Following their engagement with the SIO and completion of necessary steps, their pensions have continued without disruption, adhering to the relevant procedures. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour has begun registering 683 individuals, previously flagged for violations of the programme and whose pension payments were suspended, under the unemployment benefit scheme for job seekers. This follows Cabinet instructions to ensure support for those eligible. The ministry confirmed that these cases are now being reviewed to verify their eligibility. Bahrain: Court Orders Company to Pay Over 10,000 Dinars to Wrongfully Terminated Employee

The High Labor Court has mandated a company to pay more than 10,000 Bahraini dinars to an employee who was unjustly terminated from her position as Operations and Human Resources Manager. The court found that the company failed to fulfill its financial obligations to the employee. According to the plaintiff’s attorney, Taqi Husain, the employee joined the company with a monthly salary of 850 Bahraini dinars. In June 2023, she was dismissed from her job, and the company neglected to pay her dues, prompting her to file a lawsuit. “I request the court to grant my client her outstanding wages totaling 7,523 Bahraini dinars, compensation for delayed payment of wages, annual leave compensation of 793.33 dinars, and additional compensation of 3,315 Bahraini dinars for the termination of her employment,” lawyer Taqi argued. He also sought to impose court fees and legal expenses on the defendant. Bahrain: MPs Propose New National Stadium for Muharraq

Plans to build a worldclass stadium in Muharraq have been proposed by three MPs — Khaled Buanaq, Hisham Al Awadi, and Ahmed Qarata. The project, pitched as a step forward for Bahraini sports, aims to breathe life into local clubs and attract international tournaments. The MPs have outlined the stadium’s potential to give athletes the tools they need to excel, with advanced facilities designed to improve training conditions and help clubs compete at higher levels. Bahraini Husband Sentenced for Stealing Wife’s Bank Card

A Bahraini husband has been sentenced to one year in prison for stealing his wife’s bank card and withdrawing 190 Bahraini dinars. The High Criminal Court, however, suspended the sentence for three years, starting from the date the judgment becomes final. This suspension is contingent upon the wife’s withdrawal of her claims related to assault and phone damage, as per the argument presented by lawyer Aysha Janahi, the defendant’s attorney. The latter submitted a memorandum including the wife’s withdrawal of her personal claims against her husband, leading to the court’s decision to suspend the sentence. The case unfolded after a domestic dispute between the couple. The husband allegedly assaulted his wife, causing injuries documented in a medical report, and subsequently damaged her mobile phone. The wife left the home and discovered the next day that her bank card was missing. She contacted her bank and learned that 190 dinars had been withdrawn from her account. Bahrain: Anti-Narcotics Directorate Seizes Over 5kg Of Drugs, Arrests Several Suspects

The Anti-narcotics of the Ministry of Interior has announced a significant drug bust, seizing over 5 kilograms of various narcotics and psychotropic substances in separate operations. The total estimated value of the confiscated drugs is approximately 46,000 Bahraini dinars, as per the announcement. The statement stated that following intelligence reports, investigations were launched leading to the identification and arrest of several suspects of various nationalities. The suspects were nabbed in possession of the seized narcotics and psychotropic substances. UAE-India Flights: Airline Increases Free Extra Check-In Baggage Limit To 30Kg

Air India Express on Tuesday said it increased free check-in baggage to 30kg for passengers flying between the UAE, Middle East and other destinations. The carrier, which operates flights to different emirates of the UAE, also offers 7kg of cabin baggage. In addition to the free check-in baggage allowance, the airline offers a free cabin baggage allowance of up to two pieces of baggage with a combined weight of not more than 7kg. Guests may also carry one laptop bag, handbag, backpack, or any other small bag which fits under the seat in front, it said. Importantly, families travelling with infants are offered an additional complimentary 10kg check-in baggage allowance, bringing the total allowance to 47kg, including a 7kg cabin baggage allowance. The UAE-India air corridor is one of the busiest in the world as millions of residents and visitors fly between the two countries every year. Dubai Police Investigate $1.1bn Of Money-Laundering Cases

Dubai Police has addressed 500 money laundering cases over the past three years (2022–2024), reinforcing its role as a key player in the UAE Ministry of Interior’s efforts to counter organised and transnational crime. In collaboration with international law enforcement agencies, these efforts have led to financial investigation totalling more than AED4bn ($1.1bn), including AED60m ($16.3m) in virtual assets. Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, noted that these achievements reflect the UAE’s dedication to combating money laundering and enhancing international cooperation to tackle financial crimes.
