Saudi: New insurance policy introduces option of repairing damaged vehicle

The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has introduced new amendments to the Unified Compulsory Motor Insurance Policy, allowing an option of repairing the vehicle instead of getting cash compensation. SAMA clarified that these amendments include the policy definitions and its appendixes in accordance with the ongoing developments of the Insurance Industry, as well as updating the exceptions and transferring some of the rights of recovery cases. The amendments also allow for an option where the third party is entitled to choose between direct cash compensation, or getting the damaged vehicle repaired. The updates come as part of SAMA’s endeavour to efficiently develop and facilitate traffic claim settlement procedures and to protect the rights of the parties of the insurance contract. It comes based on the authority vested in SAMA according to the Insurance Control Law as well as in line with its continuous efforts to develop the insurance sector and to protect the rights of the insured and the beneficiaries of the insurance coverage.

The Bentley Bentayga, Supersized

By Charlie Cooksey If I was to look at the globe on my office desk to pick a list of 10 of the furthest away cities from Bahrain, Vancouver would be in that list. A beautiful city on the far west Pacific coast of Canada, it’s one of the top 10 most sustainable cities in the world with 95% of its electricity being supplied by renewable energy. The city is known for its great quality of life, stunning surroundings, friendly people, and being a short drive from Whistler – quite easily the most beautiful part of the world I have seen, with more pristine lakes, mountains and lush green nature than you can shake a stick at.  With all this in mind, it’s easy to see why Bentley decided to launch their supersized Bentayga here. Everywhere we drove in Vancouver and Whistler was picture perfect, further helped by the clear blue skies we were graced with during the event.  The Bentayga is Bentley’s only SUV. First launched in late 2015 it was an instant success, quickly becoming the brands best-selling model of all time.  Enter 2022, and Bentley have launched the all new Bentayga EWB (Extended Wheelbase). It is the […]

Jobs of The Future – What Career Paths Should Students Prepare For?

Written by John Maguire, Executive Headmaster, The British School of Bahrain What will the future hold, and what will my role be in it? These two are questions asked by most students as they choose their post-16 qualifications and often progress on to undergraduate study or apprenticeships. There have been a plethora of books published about the future of professions. One such book, ‘The Future of the Professions: How Technology will transform the work of Human Experts‘, by Daniel and Richard Susskind, was first published over seven years ago in 2015. At the time, it raised many questions about how students are best prepared for the future, and the role schools have in this preparation. Yet here we are in 2022, asking how schools have transformed themselves over the last years to prepare future generations for this predicted transformation in employment. The challenge that all schools face worldwide is that preparing students for the future of work must be balanced with the demands of the forms of assessment employed by awarding bodies, irrespective of the country or qualification in which they are studied. Sadly, this latter element is what is holding back the transformation of education throughout the world. All […]

Bahrain: The first Supercar SUV just got even better!

Gulf Insider drives the latest Porsche Cayenne GTS. By Charlie Cooksey The Porsche Cayenne is a luxurious mid-size SUV with amazing power, handling, and offers great performance. It’s hard to believe there was so much criticism when Porsche announced back in 2002 that the company was going to make its first SUV, and the first ever Porsche with four doors! Yet, history proved the Cayenne to be a genius move by Porsche. It became a massive success and began the trend for high-performance SUVs by other sports and luxury car brands. The GTS badge signifies the very top-of-the-range version of any Porsche model, and the Cayenne GTS does not disappoint. It has a twin-turbo V8 that provides 480 hp to rocket you from zero to 100 kph in just over four seconds – for comparison, the base Cayenne models use a 335-hp turbocharged V-6. The GTS also comes with lowered air suspension, a torque-vectoring rear axle, a revamped sport exhaust system, and black 21-inch wheels. All those extras would cost way more individually.   Despite its power, this is an easy and very comfortable car to drive. An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, and with as much […]
