How is the award related to your business?
Kalaam was born in Bahrain in 2005 and since its inception has grown both organically & inorganically through a clear vision, internationalization strategy with mergers and acquisitions. The reason for participation in the award was that we sincerely believed that we have a success story to share, of how a Bahraini company started small in Bahrain and has now become a regional telecom service operator. Winning this award as the “Best Enterprise of the Year with International Footprint” acknowledges Kalaam’s effort and contribution towards driving the Kingdoms economic vision of 2030 to make Bahrain a regional ICT hub.
What factors contributed to your achievement in the 4th Edition of Bahrain Award for entrepreneurship?
A key driver is that Kalaam has been ambitious and has grown both organically and inorganically through acquisitions. Kalaam is the only telecom operator in the kingdom to undertake two acquisitions in Bahrain which is Lightspeed Telecommunications and NGNS and also undertake a regional acquisition in Kuwait – Tawasul Telecom making Kalaam a global operator with an international footprint.
With the acquisition of Tawasul, Kalaam has presence in over 12 countries in the Middle East, Asia and Europe and planning to enhance its footprint further in new countries in Africa, Middle East and Europe to cater to International businesses. We continue to develop more and more niche solutions and expand our ICT portfolio through exclusive channel partners to take our unique offerings regionally and globally.
What makes your business different from similar businesses in the sector?
The Niche we have created is as the only telecom operator, which is focused on the enterprise business while most of the other telecom operators are consumer focused. We differentiate based on our unique solutions rather than our pricing. We provide one-stop shop solutions which are industry based. We cater to the customers’ entire gamut of telecommunications, ICT, communication needs whether in Bahrain or outside, under one umbrella which has been our USP.
Do you have any message for aspiring entrepreneurs?
